Apartments in Montreal

Hi guys...im thinking of moving to montreal for a short period of time just to basically live the city life and take in some montreal canadiens games.....does anybody know of a good website for finding good relatively well priced apartments in downtown montreal or fairly close to the bell centre.....like somewhere around $600-$800.

Some good deals could be in French only, may want to use google translate if needed.

Downtown Montreal for that price is pretty impossible unless the building or area has problems. You can find places near a metro for that price, but they are 15-30 mins away from downtown. Cotes des neiges is pretty close and cheap. Verdun, Lasalle could also be an option. I know furnished apartments around McGill can go for 1000$ a month for a studio. (Internet and everything included)

Good luck!

I have a 5 1/2 in Lachine for $690 a month. Big appartment too. You can find some nice deals in areas that are 20 minutes away from the city, if you don't mind travelling a bit to get downtown.

Otherwise, for $600-800 downtown, you can probably share a hole in the wall with a few mice.

Not squarely downtown, but I've got a place two streets north of st- cats and I can walk to berri uqam in about 5-8 minutes. 4 1/2 with backyard for 650. Just moved in 3 months ago.

Just gotta look for the deals man. No need to move into ratty areas like lasalle

Hate Lasalle.

The moment you transition from Lasalle to Lachine, you know the difference.

Not true. I live downtown, about a 15 minute walk to the Bell Centre (and 5 minutes from the Old Forum) and I pay $625 a month. It's a studio (about 450 square feet) and nice enough. It's obviously not the biggest place there is, but the building is in fine shape with just a few signs of aging. Nothing horrible.

I wanted to be downtown, so I searched Kijiji for my place by looking for places near Concordia, even if I don't go to school there. I'm always seeing for rent signs nearby, and imagine the pricing is similar.

montreal is about as cheap as it gets in big canadian cities look at toronto apartments vs montreal

for what i pay for a 5.5 in montreal i could basically get a shared room in toronto when thinking of location

I live downtown in 4 1/2 (2 bdr, living room and kithchenette). Price is $890 / month, including heating and hot water (electricity is $25 / month max). You can find some 3 1/2 apartments (1 bdr plus living room and kitchenette) for around $750 / month near Concordia U (5-15 min walk to Bell Center). Not the best places obviously but adequate. A lot of the older, funky student buildings are not listed online, you have to walk around the neighbourhood and pick up the numbers.

Here's a link to a downtown apartment building database:

http://www.rentquebecapartments.com/...apartment.html

Hope that helps.

For a studio you have a bit better than market value in that neighborhood. He never mentioned he was looking for a studio. Also the price I gave was fully finished with all services included. I could never live in a studio myself.

That is damn cheap. I got my first electric bill (44 days worth) and it came to almost 150 $. There's the intitial 50$ for opening your first account, but jesus I have no idea what I did to rack up that much of a bill.

After reading all the posts here, I might change my mind about going to Concordia university...

Damn, the apartments in Montreal are expensive.

McGill classifieds' website
Concordia housing website
Kijiji

Downtown...$600-800/month (for 3 1/2...one bedroom) is very possible...you just have to look at several ads and make the visits and get lucky depending on your tastes.

Good luck!
Bonne chance!

If youre Desharnais's or Gionta's size then you can save loads of cash and just rent a broom closet and it will feel like you just rented a concert hall sized appartment!

Just sayin'
