I just realized Allen gets as much as Beauchemin and Souray gets paid even more...

Our cap situation is pretty bad. We need to trade Hiller (weaker goalie, declining, 1 year left) and dump Souray somewhere.

Damn. We are very close to the cap even without that 2C and partner for Fowler. This lineup is also without Selanne. I really think we're better off with Teemu retiring.

After reading i feel very confident on giving up on Vinny and picking Theodore.

First of all, looks like Vinny is looking for long and expensive contract. No doubt that Dallas has been reported as the one of the most realistic options - they have cap space. Good to hear we were meeting him to make sure what he wants and good to hear we turned it down and won`t overpay for him.

On Theodore: looks like the kid understands what he needs to learn and wants to do that. That is the most important thing. I sure hope he succeeds. From what i understood there, i think he`ll meet Scotty next week.

This is what stood out to me as well when reading the comments made by Theodore himself and also by the Ducks brass.

Kid seems the fully understand what he needs to do and seems to have really hit it off with upper management in general. It's rarely discussed or looked at as a development tool but having the player and management on the same page can greatly contribute to a prospects growth.

Here is hoping it all pans out for the Ducks in the end. I will say that every year I tend to have the same feeling after the draft. I always am shocked with who we select and a year later am always thankful we selected who we did.

I agree, Teemu at this point is hurting the team more then helping. He had trouble with the condensed schedule, and because of it being an Olympic year it will be condensed again.

It will be interesting to see Ryan play with someone like Etem or even Maroon/Beleskey opposed to Selanne. More physical linemates might help him out.

Hello! Canucks fan who comes in peace!

Don't worry I'm not here to beat a dead horse with Edler-Ryan talks

We have a big young centre name Lain who I think would do wonders with Steckel mentoring him as I see Lain as Steckel 2.0 in a lot of ways. However I could't help but noticr that in a lot of your rosters I see he isn't there and am wondering why? Did his play drop off or is it more of a cap issue?

Correct, here's a quote from Murray on Steckel:

Quote:
We think we have players that can do those roles
It's most likely going to be Holland and Rakell battling it out for the 4 center spot. I think William Karlsson is going to turn some heads too. It would probably benefit him more to see some time in the AHL, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if he steals a roster spot.

Koivu will continue to be our faceoff specialist. There's just no room for Steckel.

Neglected our defence, despite signing 3 of our current top 6 dmen in the last year.

Definitely don't want Koivu for the same price as last year, and think Selanne needs to retire/move on. I'm on board with 1 of Allen or Souray being traded, 1 of Hiller or Fasth being traded, and Ryan and Sbisa gone as well. Realistically not seeing too much on my list actually happening though.

Well, I'm sure Stevens would report anything noteworthy. Qualifying offers being tended would be the common assumption. If one was accepted or one wasn't tended, I think we'd hear. Everything else is business as usual.

Normally he reports who we qualify and don't. There were a couple that could have gone either way - Beleskey and Palmieri are obvious guys to get qualified but there was also Clark, Brittain, Cousineau, Grant, Parent & Kennedy who needed them.

I would think Clark & Brittain get one - not sure about the others.

You're probably right. As the deadline's just passing, I'd then expect an update to come around sooner rather than later.

Dreger says that Lecavalier isn't happy about going to a 'hockey crazed' market. There may be a glimmer of hope, but I still wouldn't hold my breath.

If I'm not mistaken Murray has already been quoted as saying he met with Vinny but didn't think the term and money wanted would match up with the Ducks budget and cap situation. Hate to crush dreams, but....

So does that mean we can eliminate all of Canada, NYR, BOS, DET, CHI, PHI...or...just TOR and MTL?
