Any other centers that can PK and put up 40pts that make less than 3m? Any top level PKing 4th line centers willing to sign for 1m or less?

My god, this is difficult.
Again, Jokinen did play some significant time on the PK in Carolina. At the very least his faceoff ability is quite good, at least on Vermette's level over the past 3 seasons. We can also try to go hard after Matt Cullen as well in free agency.

Worst case scenario, trade Klesla for Jay Beagle. $1M over the next 2 seasons, key cog in Caps PK.

Honestly. I wouldn't give that to Rask, Schneider, Quick, or anyone in the world.

If it stayed at that 4.0 number the whole way through, I'd still say it was way too big of a contract. The fact that it balloons to six as soon as season after next is just crippling. Just crippling.

How can we possibly make this work?

We've got to replace Klesla with Schlemko in the regular line-up. That'll save about 1.5m. We'll need to replace Vermette's 3.75m with a similarly effective center making no more than 2.75m in order to save another 1m. Maybe shave another 1m off of payroll by trading Korpikoski or Moss and replacing them with Matt Halischuk. Gordon and Hendricks are out of the question. Our 4th HAS to be Kyle Chipchura.
I think Michalek gets traded for picks. I know GMDM and DT both like him, but I think Stone showed that he can handle the NHL full time.

As a top-pair shutdown defenseman I would hope that Z could garner a better return than just picks. Of course, there is that NMC to consider.

Z, Morris, Yandle and Doan would probably all find a trade amenable if the team moves.

Of course trading them could be moot if the Seattle guys are as rich as advertised and allow Maloney to spend near the cap. But not going down that road unless there's conclusive evidence otherwise after tonight's vote.

Well, if the team is staying, none of those guys will want to move. Trading Yandle could create problems in the room if he doesn't bring back a legit forward. What a mess.

So at minimum, Klesla, Morris, maybe Moss are all moving. At least that's what I'd guess.

Morris is big in the room and big on Phoenix. If they stay, no way you move him. Moss has a NTC (I **** you not). Klesla looks like the odd man out.

Beagle is interesting. So is Mathieu Perreault from a cheap offense point of view.

Morris was on the trade block though this season. Again, it's effing Sophie's Choice to pick another defenseman to move in addition to Klesla. But it looks like it's going to have to be that way if the Yotes stay.

Just spitballing...getting some ideas out there into the ether...

Klesla and Vermette for Perreault(1.1) and Beagle(1.0)

3rd and Tikhonov for Jussi Jokinen(2.1)

Hanzal-Perreault-Jokinen-Beagle ???

If we're back to trading Klesla and Vermette to the Caps I want to go after Johansson, not Perreault. Johansson + Beagle.

Perreault is set to make 1.1. Mojo will command at least twice that, no?

Mojo is also like 25-30 lbs heavier than Perreault. Not saying that he's a physical beast, but I'm not comfortable with Perreault at center for us as long as we're in the Pacific.

Clitsome off the market. Might warm up any potential deals Maloney is working on. Was one of the few gems set to be available in FA.

Doubt you get Bouchard at that price unless other teams think his body is totally shot.

I think his concussion history will deter teams from offering him too much money.

Market is thin, he's only 29, and doesn't Mojo have a concussion history as well? Even with a terrible year, PMB was on a 40 point pace. Every year before has been better than that. I just don't see 1.7m getting it done on the open market.

1.7m in year one and 2.3m in year two might sway him. Average of two.

Mojo has missed 12 games due to a concussion, all this season. PMB has missed 133 games due to concussions in his career.

I'd add term. A player with his injuries is probably looking for total guaranteed money over anything else.
