But since then it's become pretty clear he won't be cracking the Hawks roster.

He might still make the NHL one day, but it's a solid bet that he's an AHL lifer.

The decision to not re-sign Lavin gives me confidence that they'll sign Johns. They simply don't have the depth in the AHL to not re-sign a guy like that.

Dahlbeck - Clendening
Svedberg - Olsen
Youds - Lalonde

That's complete ****.

assuming beach was qualified (and it seems he was)...i wonder how he feels about that. meaning, it really does seem like (no matter how much some people think he can make it) the hawks don't plan to give him much of a chance...if i were him, i think i'd prefer to be cut loose and look for a team where i can have a new start and perhaps a better chance.

or they still see the potential he has and just gave him more time to develop... he isn't worse than Bollig.

Yep. And Beach isn't the only one. I can think of several others, treading water in RFD.
At least Hawks have fired some of the dead wood coaching staff. Hopefully they will be replaced by competent and progressive new blood that will help get our farm team closer to the level they should be at given the talent.

You don't give up on big guys like Beach... these players bloom late... everyone gives up on hockey players so quickly... your a bust at 23... in MLB for example that's when guys just begin to break in.

Bickell in the AHL at 22, 42GP 6G 14Pts 60PIM
At 23, 65GP 16G 31Pts 58PIM

Beach just turned 23 and put up 66GP 16G 204PIM

Why can't he follow the same path as Bickell?

I see it the opposite way... once a player gets old they have to clear waivers to go to the AHL... Hickey for example... I think he is waiver eligible this upcoming season

The Hawks don't want another team to have him, because they feel he can still crack the Hawks lineup.

Johns doesn't make that defense much better. Team is going to be bad again it looks like.

My first answer would be physical and mental health.
I think he's going to continue to look like a bust, but since he missed so much time, I'm content seeing him for another year. Besides, they already moved Paradis and Flick from Rockford so they still need some knuckleheads.

Exactly. Kruger is 1.1m maybe 1.5m if we are in the neighborhood of 1.9m then we better be looking at free agents to fill the bottom six.

Offers tendered to Kruger, Beach, LeBlanc, Lalonde, and Stanton. Did not tender Lavin or Sauve.

I think BWC thinks he is going to play top 6 LW this year for the Hawks. He loves him.

Prepare for BWC meltdown when he reads that! But he should celebrate no Stal coming back most likely. All evens out in the end.

Marcus Kruger's agent tells me talks with the #Blackhawks are ongoing. Still talking about a two-year deal.

I really hope we can bring Kruger back. He gets a lot of hate but he's still really young and has time to improve, plus we'd be losing our top 2 PKers (Frolik & Kruger) on one of the top PK units in the league.

Sure those guys aren't super hard to replace but as the saying goes, if ain't broke don't fix it, it'd be nice to have at least 1 guy out there who's already got experience on the PK with our D-men. This team was special, and though it hasn't been completely dismantled like in 2010 you can't just replace 1/3rd of the team and think you'll get the same type of production from a completely different group of guys, even if they're all 3rd/4th liners and special teamers.

With Michal Rozsival re-signing, Ryan Stanton will be back down in Rockford for another season, unless the Chicago Blackhawks trade/waive Sheldon Brookbank. I seriously doubt the Chicago Blackhawks will keep eight defenseman on the active 23 man roster.

Stanton - Clendening
Dahlbeck - Lalonde
Olsen - Youds (ugh!)
Svedberg

The Chicago Blackhawks next spring need to sign the best undrafted right handed defenseman from the collegiate ranks.

According to capgeek the Hawks have 2.5 million to spend on 2 players. Assuming Pirri makes the team that leaves 1.6 million for Kruger. That ought to be enough. That puts 23 players under contract.

and still with .23 Cap Space

with Jayes/Morin on the Roster instead of Smith that would free up another .2 in cap Space.
