So, this year's HHoF class is in: Niedermayer, Chelios, and Shanahan as NHL players. Geraldine Heaney as a female player on the basis of her international resume. Fred Shero in the builder category for his coaching of the Broad Street Bullies.

A little context for the people out there that are mad at Regier not doing more so far this offseason.

Craig Mac is frustrated at not getting as much done as he talked about.

Perron to Edmonton, no return yet given.

Considering he was always offered up in a Vanek trade I am sure he is traded for something far less.

Bad news for Edmonton as a trade partner for Vanek, though.

If Darcy doesn't get Miller and Vanek dealt before the season, it'll just be sabotaging the tank.

STL fans and some Sabre fans making Vanek proposals mentioned Perron and a pick for Vanek.

And the return is Paajarvi and a 2nd for Perron.

Well there goes one "throw in every trade because we don't want to give up actual value" player Oiler fans talk about.

The Blues just downgraded a roster spot while trying super double hard to win a Cup/round. I don't think this is just a budget team fiddling with salary, they're adding assets for something else...

Good call. Wouldn't be surprised if there was a second shoe to drop on this one.

Karl Alzner just signed the best contract in the league. 4 years, 2.8 per.

Given how tough it is for the Blues to score sometimes, I gotta agree with you -- just seems like there's another Blues move coming.

[WAS] Capitals re-sign Karl Alzner (4 years, $2.8M per) What a steal!

A couple of days ago, we wrote that the St. Louis Blues may need to make a trade to reduce salary.

Today, they did just that, sending winger David Perron to the Edmonton Oilers for 22-year-old winger Magnus Paajarvi and a 2014 second-round draft pick.
Hmmmmm

That's immediately a top-5 deal in the league.

They don't really have the space for a big move if they plan on keeping Stewart/MPS.

And who would want them :p?

Rask signs 8 years $56 million. Regier has changed again and now believes franchise goalies are once again the direction the league is heading

Tuukka is one of the best in the league, and they've got him for his prime. He'll win them some important games. The number's a little higher than I expected, but with the cap going up aggressively, I don't expect this deal to hurt the Bruins in the long run.
