Clutterbuck to EDM

Russo reporting that Eddy is interested in Clutterbuck. He's heard Pitlick's name...

Rumor is here.

Any ideas what Clutterbuck is looking for on his next contract?

Won't be in the same division anymore so a trade between these two teams is certainly more likely. Would be interesting considering the Hall/Clutterbuck incident and how many Edmonton fans hate him (understandable though).

Sounds like just a one year deal to re-establish himself after his down year, but that's assuming he re-signs with the Wild, probably not another team. I would guess a few years at around $2-2.5 million a year.

I would love Clutterbuck on Edmonton. Pitlick is a little confusing considering he hasn't exactly lit the AHL on fire.

Pitlick looks to max out at a 3rd liner or what Clutterbuck is now. This deal would never be made if Wild wasnt against the cap. Pitlick has been troubled by injuries in the AHL. And while he isnt a bust, he hasnt dominated. All he has right now is so really good tools (shot, speed, size) but hasnt put it together

The Wild are trying to clear cap space and with the loss of depth in the Pominville trade, they need to stock the cupboards again.

Pitlick + a pick, maybe Anaheim's 2nd sounds fair if Mike Brown can get a 4th.

Thank you Oilers fans for chiming in on Pitlick. His resume doesn't sound impressive, that's unfortunate. I'm curious what else would be included.

The Oilers should be absolutely desperate for guys like Clutterbuck, if he's available it's critical that they outbid everyone else.

Any bottom-sixer that can pot 10-15 goals a year while playing a physical game would be a godsend for the Oilers, especially moving into the new division.

Would love this for the Oilers (Provided he and Hall can bury the hatchet!). Still think Pitlick makes it to the NHL, his development has been stunted a little (Moving from NCAA to WHL, then going to AHL way too early) but he's got the tools.

Pitlick's a Minnesota native.

With the possibility of Gilbert getting bought out, the Wild need to maintain their minimum "two Minnesota natives on the roster" obligation.

Helmets and gloves match at first practice.

Pitlick was good in the calder cup playoffs this year. He could change his game up to a pure energy/checker and make it to the NHL as a 4th liner. But I still think he can develop the skill game a touch more

I think he has a good shot at being a solid third liner. He is just taking his time developing

FYI - Anyone salivating at the thought of Clutterbuck on your team, just know hat his physicality hasn't really been the same since Shanahan cracked down on hitting. Last season he was practically invisible.

Hopefully he can turn things around. When he's on his game, Clutterbuck is an instant fan favorite. His jerseys sell like hotcakes (particularly with the ladies).

I'd say Pitlick has all the tools. Could be a 2nd line Center that good in his own end and physical, maybe a 40-50 point scorer at tops though.

Realistically he probably top out as a damn good third liner.

Loving this from Edmonton's perspective.

Pitlick has had some lousy luck with injuries and consistency in the AHL. But the guy has been money in two years of post-season play in OKC. He's got a hell of a wrister and still looks to have a reasonable shot at making the jump in the next couple seasons.

And although I've seen (and hated) him for a dozen or so games, how is Clutterbuck's skating?

Please no to Pitlick. We already have a comparable in Graovac.

There has to be more player(s)/draft pick(s) involved if the rumor is true.

Most definitely. I'm guessing Fletcher has his eye on Edmonton's 2nd rounder; and as you know, his track record with 2nd round picks is quite good.

Pitlick is a case of having some tools but no toolbox plus he's injury prone.
He's really fast, hits really hard and has a big shot. The problem is that his effort level is inconsistent, his shot is inaccurate and he has stone hands. Frustrating player to watch because he just looks like a player who can be a lot better. Kesleresque in small doses.

I would be surprised if this was a straight up trade unless Minnesota is that desperate to dump salary.
I would have to imagine that the Oilers are adding a draft pick.
Clutterbuck would be the ideal fit for their 3rd line.

If it is Edm's 2nd he would likely target one of the goalies.

This is his very very top end. Right now, he's struggling to define himself as a top 6 forward in the AHL.
