Didn't Homer call Raffl "nearly NHL ready"?

Some might think Laviolette and his staff told him.

My game-plan, should Timonen not stay another year...

YEAR 1
Hartnell - Giroux - Voracek
Schenn - Lecavalier - Simmonds
Laughton - Couturier - Read

Timonen - Schenn
Streit - Coburn
Gustafsson - Grossmann

YEAR 2
Hartnell - Giroux - Voracek
Schenn - Lecavalier - Simmonds
Laughton - Couturier - Straka/Cousins

Gustafsson - Schenn
Streit - Coburn
xxxxx - Grossmann

YEAR 3
Hartnell - Giroux - Voracek
Schenn - Lecavalier - Simmonds
Laughton - Couturier - Straka/Cousins

Gustafsson - Schenn
Hagg - Coburn
Gostisbehere - xxxxx

YEAR 4
Hartnell - Giroux - xxxxx
Schenn - Lecavalier - Simmonds
Laughton - Couturier - Straka/Cousins

Gustafsson - Schenn

That's the way it looks right now as far as the developmental path of our players.

What happens to Voracek in year 4?

I mean you keep Coburn and Schenn on defense despite their deals been up after year 3

I believe it was Dave Brown who said that, or maybe Chris Pryor, or both, in the articles around his signing.

I think both get re-signed. I don't know what Voracek's going to ask for though.

Why do you think he doesnt? Saying he has a chance to play doesnt mean he has alot of hype. Finally got a forward who plays a game where he can score goals and pass the puck (other than Schenn/Couturier two years ago)
I can't speak for him, but my concern is his lack of D skill, which I think a year in the A would help tremendously. It seems like those kind of guys either make it in the top 6 or not at all.

Planning this team out for three years is impossible. There will be trades/FA signings/Other draft picks and so on. We have a GM that loves to make big time trades, this team won't look anything like we think it will, but I will take a chance at it.

2015-2016 Flyers lineup

Stamkos-Giroux-Voracek
Schenn-Vinny-Martin St. Louis
Simmonds-Laughton-Read
scrub-scrub-scrubber

Weber-Pietrangelo

That's all we need

Lundy as our goalie

Stanley CUP!

P.S. Sorry everyone, had to trade Couts for Stamkos, tough decision, but pulled the trigger.

Pretty sure straka is headed to the AHL to work on his defense at least that's the impression I get. Obviously he could come into camp and win the final top 9 spot but I just don't think he will.

Petr Straka is an absurd talent. Has his stick broken straight in half, still blows one by Skoff.

I'm gonna keep singing Straka's praises. Gets around defenseman after pushed onto boards, blasts one past Madsen from knees

The guy is clearly above everybody (sans Laughton).

Seems like he's going to get a LONG look in regular camp and see how he does against men.

Being from Halifax, and watching Straka play against us in the finals, this does not surprise me in the slightest. I never questioned that we lose that series, but when Straka was on the ice, your nuts got a little tighter, and you legitimately worried a bit. Guy has unreal talent

I honestly don't care about the D at this point. The Flyers can really use a slick winger with a sick shot. Can't always have two way guys. If he is better than somebody on the top now in terms of offense, they have to really think long and hard about it.

So, camp is over. Apparently they had a skate at 8:00 AM this morning. I think if one player really stood out from pack, it's Straka.

I guess the positive is IF he makes it, he'll be next to Giroux, Vinny or Couturier, all are sound Defensive Centers. So they aren't hanging him out to dry. He'll be relatively covered.

Leed was talking about it on twitter also. There is 1 year on Raffl and 3 on Straka. The team seemed to think, despite not playing in NA, Raffl didnt need to go to the prospect camp. I do agree with him that it is pretty telling where they stand. I do think they are expecting Raffl to make the squad.

Doesn't it suck that we have so many ****ing forwards that should be top 9 but no room for them?

Yea, all the HG chimed in. There is essentially 4 guys (maybe 5) fighting for 1 spot

McGinn
Straka
Laughton
Raffl

Gagne is the 5th and obviously would be given the spot. Makes you wonder if Holmgren would be tempted to do something with the influx of possible forwards.

I don't know anything about Raffl

Apparently the Flyers have Raffl for 3 years, not 1. So with that being said, I guess the field is now even again.

According to capgeek Raffl is 1.

EDIT: Leed says Official release says three. Interesting. You are right then.

Nice issue to finally have. We need to upgrade the D and now we have some peices to be add on's or at least replace the players we will trade to fill that need....even if we have to over-pay a bit.

Winnipeg would be my focus. They have Buff, Enstrom, Bogo(target), Clitsome, Trouba and Morrissey soon.
