Pass.

McIlrath is the only tough defenseman (other than Falk, who probably won't play very much) on our roster. Otherwise our defense would be soft as butter.

And forgive my ignorance, but I know nothing about the Hayes bros.

Dylan McIlrath, our first overall pick coupla years ago, something like 10th overall.

As to the OP, no thanks, he's conditionally available if it helps enough elsewhere, but it would take a better deal.

I will tentatively guess that they knew that perfectly well, but were poking fun at the OP, who is kinda notorius for horrible Hawks-favoring proposals.

Pass on this, big time. McIlrath was taken 10th overall when Tarasenko was still available, due to a huge need for a physical RHD d-man. They've been grooming him ever since, they even got Beukeboom to become the coach for the AHL affiliate so he could mentor him.

McIlrath has a big chance of making the team this year, he will be on the team after this upcoming season at the latest you can bank on it.

Rangers have Girardi and Stralman who are RHD. McIlrath fits a need due to that and due to his great physicality. We've been waiting for "The Undertaker" for quite some time now. HUGE overpayment neccessary if you want to convince the management to give up on him.

This. McIlrath is going to be a physically dominating defenseman. He will most likely never be anything other than a #4 dman (due to limited offensive upside) but he will crush most people in the NHL. The kid has some un real strength.

Pass on this from Hawks

I don't see McIlrath as anything more then a 3rd pairing dman in future and think Kevin Hayes has good NHL potential and is safer bet to be NHL player in longrun

well Fowler has stunk for 2 yrs so I would rather have McIlrath at this point.

he obviously is still developing and has had some injuries but it seems like he's improving . 1 more yr in the AHL and he should be ready to play on the big club. Stralman is a UFA after this yr so I figure McIlrath is ready

Rangers need a tough arse Dman so keeping McIlrath is the way to go in my eyes

McIlrath has taken a while to develop, as should be expected from a guy in his role. But's he's really done great playing under Jeff Beukeboom in the AHL and is really looking like the SOB the Rangers defense needs.

He'll probably never be putting up great offensive numbers, but will probably be a rock defensively.

Plus he can beat up 99% of NHL players

Awful asset management if u ask me, we desperately need a RHD, not to mention a tough SOB. We've missed that ever since we had Beukeboom. Not trading that for a fwd unless he's an elite talent.

We got Fast, Lindberg, Miller, Kreider, St Croix coming up through our pipeline, plenty of fwd's with different skillsets, but we only got one player like McIlrath. Hayes is a luxury we can live without, McIlrath fills a way bigger need.

Both first round picks.
Both developing project.
Extra pick added from Chicago

Hayes projects to be a top 9 FWD who is more offensive then his older brother. Maybe a Drew Stafford type player

Mcllrath, projects to be a #4-5 Komiserek/Reghr type

First of Fowler is overrated. Secondly we have Del Zotto who came of a great year, no need to get a similar PMD. If you've said Tarasenko then yes. But it's already water under the bridge, nothing we can do about it now.

Rangers drafte for a need, a need we've had for like 10-15 years now. And after picking him over players such as Fowler and Tarasenko do you really believe that the organization is about to give up on when he is all but certain to step in and contribute sooner rather than later for Hayes?

3 years of developing for a glaring need just to trade him for a bottom 6 fwd? No thank u, with all due respect to Hayes.

Are you now misspelling "Komiserek/Reghr" to make a point about your previous misspelling of McIlrath?

Come on, I know you from your daily "Staal for Bolland+our crap" proposals last summer and you know Hawkaholic knows McIlrath.

You don't mean that. Barring injury Mcilrath is a much safer bet to play in the NHL productively. And why does he top out as a 3rd pairing guy? Skating? Positioning? What makes you think this?
