Top 50: Prospects ranked 11-20 knocking down door of NHL

The Fall edition of the Hockey's Future ranking of the Top 50 NHL prospects continues with the prospects ranked 11-20. NHL success is at a premium as we break into the top 20 with a group made up mostly of players primed for an NHL breakout.

Prospects like Jonas Brodin, Justin Schultz, Jakob Silfverberg, and Brandon Saad are already familiar names to NHL fans, while the likes of Valeri Nichushkin and Morgan Rielly represent the next wave of talented players making a splash in the big leagues.

Jacob Markstrom also settled in at 16th overall, once again ranking as HF’s top goaltender ahead of Andrey Vasilevskiy (24th) and Robin Lehner (34th).… read more

Definitely looks like we might not see Lindholm in the top 50. :/

Ya that's incredibly hard to swallow. I can't see him being in the top 10 ahead of the likes of Reilly and Nichushkin. I can't believe Silfverberg is in the top 15. I respect what he accomplished in the SEL but he's yet to impress me in NA.

What is the cutoff to no longer be considered a prospect? A bunch of these guys played the entire season last year (albeit lockout shortened).

Silfverberg was good in the SHL a couple of years ago, but he does not belong in the top 20. Seen him and E.Lindholm a lot in Brynäs and there is no way Silfverberg should be ahead. Everyone seems to forget about Hampus Lindholm, I'm guessing many people just haven't seen him play, including me. He was very good in Rögle though, underrated during his draft season for sure.

I think it's something like 60 games which is why guys like Yakupov,Galchenyuk and Huberdeau will be at the top of this list.

Why is Brodin even on this list? Does that mean Galchenyuk and Yakupov will be on here as well?

MacKinnon
Jones
Drouin
Galchenyuk
Huburdeau
Tarasenko
Hamilton
Kuznetsov
Barkov

Who has the last spot?

Mark Scheifele top 10? He should certainly be top 50 and hasn't been seen yet...

Man would it really have been that hard to pro-rate for the lockout season? This list is practically pointless in comparison to previous years because it's just dominated by last years Calder competition, especially when the rankings tend to favour guys as they get closer to the NHL.

Ya i guess it has to be Scheifele. He must be in the 10 slot. I like him but that's a little high IMO.

I'd agree it's probably a little high, but I can't see him not on the list when it includes Strome, Toffoli and Gallagher,

Which is funny because most if not all Jets fans have Trouba higher than Scheifele.

No Mrazek as well, who many clearly have as a top 5 goalie prospect, if not higher than Gibson.

Again, this is from a site that sometimes doesn't watch it's tape and gives prospects ludicrous rankings.

If I had to guess the top 10, I'd say:

1. Mackinnon
2. Jones
3. Yakupov
4. Huberdeau
5. Drouin
6. Galchenyuk
7. Tarasenko
8. Barkov
9. Kuznetsov
10. Hamilton

Weird, since that wouldn't include Scheifele. Maybe Kuznetsov isn't being considered a prospect anymore?

(It was a shortened season, but he played all games nonetheless.)

And yes, I know it was less than 65 games.

Silfverberg ahead of Zibanejad?

I watched him and Zibby play 40 games together and it was clear from day one that Zibanejad was the better player and has more potential going forward.

J.Schultz\Brodin made the list and you guys are expecting Galchenyuk to be on top 10 so Yak would probably be eligible as well.

Was that before or after the Ryan trade?
