He'd be a nice veteran leader in Rochester and probably fill the nets down there.

FNC Greeter for kids and dwarfs? In all seriousness, I voted for waivers and send to Rochester.

I have no problem keeping him here for the year. If he bounces back, great. If not, who cares? He's a FA after the year and he has a minimal cap hit.

Yeah, I'm all for putting him on waivers and trying to get him to Rochester. I think he'd be a nice scoring line addition down there. If someone claims him, then whatever. It's too bad the way he's struggled since that Bourdon hit. He was one of my favorite Sabres c. 2011.

Other - I see him competing with the likes of Flynn, foligno, larsson, and tropp for bottom six ice time in camp. If he refocuses himself on being a speedy energy player a la the 2011-2012 season then there's a good chance he'd win a spot out of camp.

Keep him. He will help us with the tank. Try to move him at the deadline or send him to Rochester.

I just don't understand the consensus to waive him now. There is literally no reason to do it and competition is a good thing.

I'd like to see Gerbe force them to keep him up with a strong showing in camp. If he doesn't make them team, so be it- waive away.

But I think the decision is made then, no?

If anything he's fun to watch, and we'll need it this year.

Pre-broken Gerbe was awesome. The shell of that player is simply wasting space. I have no need for him unless he gets his game back.

Which is a great case for letting him compete in camp, then waiving and assigning to the Amerks if his game is no longer effective at this level.

Attempt to trade for a 5th,6th,7th pick in 2014. If no takers, this.

I agree. I don't believe that is an option in the poll however. Either way I don't think he's got an NHL game left in him.

I'm glad the lockout gave him time to re-hab from that surgery, but it seems obvious he came back to soon.
I hope that this offseason has been helpful towards his game coming back.

I definitely wouldn't waive him before training camp.

I wouldn't waive him until the end of camp either, but right now... he does not look like a guy who they can rely on for ANYTHING but taking up a roster spot. He was bad defensively and a blackhole on offense. It's hard to score when taking a wrister on net from a few feet inside the blueline while turning away.

If he's motivated enough to show he can be a pesky, effective player again, great. I'm not sold that he can be, so then the waive bait comment.

I'd waive him and not care too much if he clears. Easily replaceable in all senses.

Wait until training camp.

Does he earn forward spot? If not, waive or trade him.

This. Every NHL team has a couple players like this. There is no shame in it.

(Although I did vote "other". Someone needs to help Charlie run the Wonka Factory, and keep the Oompa Loompas in line...)
