Petry and Franson have similar value. So it would turn into Grabbo + 1.5 mill for a 1st + Horcoff and that doesn't make a lot of sense for Edmonton. They wouldn't be interested in Grabbo

What the **** is this? If we wanted to get rid of Horcoff that badly we'd just amnesty him, not bend over and recieve.

That's pretty terrible for Edmonton.

Grabovski has little value right now. The guy is coming off his worst season in years. At best, we'll probably pay a team to take him (in which case we might as well keep him).

Not expected to be a deep draft. Am i the only one that would want to see Yakupov play with Grabo? Anyways.. not trying to fleece Oilers fans, just thought they were in a possition to turn the corner next year. Kinda thinking its a mid-late pick in a weak draft.

Don't want franson he's a good player but would rather petry to him because he has a super value contract while franson is probably cash in. Also franson's role is already filled by J shultz

Franson > Petry.

Same age, Franson has been much more successful to this point in time. He is also a good bit bigger and more physical out there when he wants to be.

I thought this was fair, aren't the leaf players worth their weight in gold?

Franson has more value (50+ point-on-pace guy, a must on special teams because of his booming shot from the point, league leader in hits amongst d-men etc.) is more valuable than a 2nd pairing defensive d-man with much more limited upside (albeit he has the ability to be a good 1st pairing defensive partner).

But the difference in the two isn't a 1st rounder.

So it's terrible value for Edmonton as a result.

Petry > Franson

Can Franson even play D? When I lived in TO, he was a riverboat gambler.

That first makes this very bad for the Oiler's, there s nothing coming back from Toronto worth the Oiler's first next year.

I absolutely love Franson, but this post screams "I googled their point totals and came to the conclusion Franson is better."

Petry is pretty much is the same player as Gunnarson. You could maybe argue Franson=Petry, but not Franson>Petry.

Anyways, this trade makes no sense.

Franson>Gunnarson because he's more than viable on the PP/offensively and his point totals prove it. Franson>Petry because of the same reason, Franson isn't exactly a liability on the back-end either. Defensive d-man are less of a commodity than what Franson provides. I'd be extremely surprised if much people value Petry moving forward more than Franson, and that's not a knock on Petry or the Oilers. Fact is, guys like Gunnarson and other defensive d-man are a lot less of a commodity than guys like Franson.

The trade doesn't make sense because the gap isn't Edmonton's 2014 1st.

You can't be serious. I wouldn't even trade Petry for that package.

Holy! this is bad for oilers.

Petry > Franson

Grabo doesn't hold much in way of value at all (then neither does Horcoff so that could be a wash)

Then what's our 2014 1st for???
