Meh... he does OK, but not particularly well. This year's powerplay in Colorado was bad beyond my powers of description, but in previous years he managed to finish middle of the pack.

I'm OK with it. I could easily see him being a good assistant. I'd like to hear the press conference before giving it much though.

Avs fans, since you're here, do you think he'll do better as an assistant than he did as a HC?

I do think he'll be better as an assistant yes. Just don't put that buffoon in charge of the PP.

Well, we're trying for a #1 pick so...do you think he can get that done?

Very difficult to do worse so he'll probably do better. Although he wasn't good at all in Colorado (he can thank Craig Anderson for his Jack Adams nomination) and as the HC of the LE Monsters he did pretty well when he coached Team USA imo. So there's a chance he'll do a good job in a reduced role. Like others have said already, pray he won't run your powerplay, though.

From my own judgements having watched a moderate amount of Avs games over his tenure, I thought he was awful as a head coach due to his strategic decisions with line-ups, systems, PP, etc. On the flip side of the coaching equation, how do you guys feel about his development of players? You've been a very young team most of his tenure and most of your building blocks came up under him. Any thoughts on positive or negative influence he's had in that area?

Nothing wrong with this hire. I think he will do well as one of the assistant coaches and he did just win bronze with team usa at the world's, with a team on paper that wasn't suppose to win a medal.

Difficult to say. Matt Hunwick for example improved significantly under Sacco, other players didn't develop as well.

Sabres coach Ron Rolston says he'll add one more assistant coach in addition to newly hired Joe Sacco and holdover Teppo Numminen.

So Rolston fired a guy who couldn't run a PP for his life and replaced him with another? Fantastic. Considering that the PP is one of the first and foremost things that needs to be overhauled....

You better hope Sacco doesn't run PP.

There was a game where Avs were up a goal in the 3rd period, and the genius Sacco decided to put 5 forwards on PP which led to the tying SH goal and eventually Avs losing that game.

Sounds perfect considering a top pick will be the best outcome for next season.

I'm indifferent, who knows what his role will be in regards to special teams. I can only hope Teppo is in charge of the PP because the Avs PP has been an abortion

At the end of the day...I don't think an assistant coach has a huge impact on a team's success.
