We have 2013, we are talking Hiller 2013. Post vertigo. Otherwise I'd have included Brodeur in the Top 10 list.

I doubt the Isles do Mayfield, the organization is really high on him. Assuming it Hiller that Ducks look to move to open up cap space, would Nielson + a 2nd or 3rd get it done?

So the Islanders wouldn't trade a prospect who's their third or fourth d-prospect, but they would trade their best defensive forwards and one of the more reliable players on the team?

Hiller is about the level of Halak, Brodeur, Holtby, Neuvirth, Smith. Glimpses of greatness but overall average. Not a goalie that will steal you a playoff series.

I'd say his trade value about a late 1st rounder or a 2nd rounder (+ maybe decent prospect).
When have half of the goalies you listed as better than Hiller stolen a playoff series? Hiller has at least done it before, albeit a few years back.

I've brought up Nielsen for Hiller before, but I really see it as more of a mid-season move if a couple things fall into place.

For the Isles to make such a move, it would mean that Strome and/or Nelson were impressing in a 2C role (assuming Cizikas continues his strong play as well).

The Ducks may hold onto their goalie cards until mid season and let the two good young prospects battle for playing time in the AHL. The goalie market is currently saturated and perhaps one of Hiller/Fasth fetches a better return during the season.

You, perhaps? Hiller didn't come close to stealing that series, he got to make a ton of easy saves while the Ducks gave the Sharks the business. I'm not saying he was bad, he was pretty good, but he didn't steal anything.

Id do that very confidently from an Anaheim POV. Nielsen is an incredible 3C and even a pretty solid 2C and at only age 29 on a really nice deal for 3 more seasons. Id love to add him.

Using that logic, can we add 2007 Rick DiPietro?

How is that applicable, the Islanders lost 4-1 that year.

I'd rather move Pokka than Mayfield.

Isles would be foolish to move Nielsen for Hiller....I like Hiller but Frans is a solid 2 way forward....3rd rounder plus a mid spec is all I give.
