This trade is not a big deal.

Its the overpaying to get him schtick and now he's gone. Some trades just dont work out..

Gali on Flames radio:

- Didn't think [he'd] be traded with how well [he] ended the season
- Gali said [he] wasn't going to fit in the top 9 with the cap
- DW was gracious enough to let [him] know the teams that were interested in [him], Gali wanted Flames, so DW made it happen

Doesn't matter he was still one of the most dominant power forwards in the league when he played.

okay, so he didnt request a trade.

i still think he couldve been qualified, but it doesnt matter now.

DW should really push for wellwood, halischuk, or macarthur. any of them will fit on this team.

WTF?
maybe DW saw this coming???

I think Gali was asking for bigger$$$ than the sharks could justify. I'm guessing Gali's demands moderated significantly during the trade discussions.

Against a broken Vancouver team? Didn't score much against LA.

He wanted more from us since he was expecting to play in a top 6 role. Price goes down when you're being traded.

With the flames, his dream location. He may have wanted more from the sharks. He surely wanted a bigger role that the sharks would e able to provide him.

The problem with this situation for me is the 4th.

I was expecting more than that. Even if it's just the rights.

It seems like he's ecstatic to be in Calgary so I guess he would lower his expectations a bit.

So with Havlat still injured, I guess DW is slotting in Kennedy, Hertl, and Wingels/Sheppard as Top-9 forwards?

I was thinking a 3rd or 2 4ths. A 4th in 2015 is almost nothing.

Galiardi did play on our top line after all.

Wow, it seems whenever DW brings in an asset, he also gives one away. I mean, it's not like the team is stacked with forward depth. In addition, Galiardi was still young and might have worked out just fine with some more time. His speed will be missed dearly, too.

I like the guy and would have been happy if we kept him. And if giving him away isn't bad enough, I can't but think of what DW gave up for him and Winnik. And even though McGinn would be very useful for us now, I just can't forgive the Doug that he threw Sgarbossa out of the window...

Two things have me pissed:

1.Mcginn
2.Why did he go for so little????

This just seems stupid. DW will have to do something brilliant to redeem himself for his bad asset management lately.

how is 2 4ths any different than a 4th when you say a 4th is almost nothing. doesnt really matter that its 2014/2015 because we have no idea how those drafts shape up.

we paid a 3rd for torres. galiardi doesnt really come to that level, and its just negotiating rights. for instance a 2nd for kennedys rights was a slight overpayment from us, but a 4th sounds about right for his body of work over the last three years.
