First of all, Bergevin himself extended the smurf.

Second of all, Lecavalier would be an upgrade over said smurf, and given that he's under 35 we could've frontloaded the contract and everything would've been excellent.

Worst case, if need be, buy him out in year 4 or 5 when the cap hit is 1m, see if anyone cares.

Tim Panaccio ‏@tpanotchCSN 3m Source says 5 year $23.5 mill for Lecavalier as a Flyer. checking on that

At that money I'm undecided if I would want him here. I could live with the contract, but at 37 and 38, not sure he'll be worth a 4.7 mil cap hit.

A bit too long but still would've way rather had that contract instead of ****** Desharnais for 4 years.

Yeah, how many 6'04 players do we have? Being french is just a plus.

Keep thinking that we wouldn't be any better with him on our team.

EW! Glad he's not coming here. 5-years is brutal.

We'd be saying the same things we do about Gionta in 2-3 years about Vinny. And then he'd had his life here.

This guy is gutless. The fact that he made us believe we were in the running is a complet joke, he never entended in signing here. He did not want to get the flak. I hope the ****er gets booed like Brière was.

Galchenyuk/Plekanec/Eller or DD.

That's great. No need for Lecavalier now any more than there was a need for Denis Savard after he was done his first tour in Chicago.

He doesn't want to play in Montreal because of people like you.

I sure as **** don't blame him.

Maybe we can land Briere. Undersized players with tremendous skill is what we like.

Well, I'd rather have Lecavalier for the next 5 years than Desharnais, but Galchenyuk will be better than both of them in 2 years anyway.

Galchenyuk will be better than an old *** Vinny soon enough anyway, and Plek and Eller are twice the defensive players.

Can't blame him. Montreal is a ****ing circus and lots of fans/media are nothing but impatient *******s. Could you imagine what would've happen if he started playing poorly?
