Excellent move. Perfect guy to help the kids in Rochester.

Hopefully they land Briere to help the kids we have up now learn and grow.

Matt Ellis is awesome, claiming other unrelated players didn't care isn't

Great for Rochester, I hope they bring in more scoring forwards like a locke or giroux as opposed to the Mancari's. Ellis' work ethic will be great for our youth as others have said.

I have no problem with him being Roch C. I have a problem with Darcy thinking again that maybe it will be ok to bring him up to Buffalo. It isn't.

I do not see anything saying this is confirmed or even that it happened yet.

Provide another source if you have one.

What's he supposed to say, that they won't give him a chance even if they have no depth, have an open 4th line spot, and he has a great camp? You don't just flat out say a player can't/won't make the big club. First, you never know and second, it's very disrespectful to the player.

Furthermore, claiming that Ellis can't hack it as an NHL fourth-liner is just wrong. He's more than capable.

Yea, Miller and Pominville especially always busted their butts on the ice. Vanek usually did/does. Let's not build up Ellis' effort by taking unwarranted potshots at other players.

As for Ellis, it's a good signing. He plays in Rochester, provides a good example for the younger players, and gets called up to do 4th line minutes in an emergency. What's not to like?

These are the types of players and signings I love for the Amerks. Guys like him give the Amerks an identity, help win some games and are good for development.

I'm not willing to say the leopard has changes his spots, but it is nice to see an AHL-level move made sooner rather than as an after-thought.

Fine if he's going to be in Rochester all year then it's whatever. But if I ever see Matt Ellis in the lineup for the Sabres I will lose it. This guy is terrible and simply not worthy to even be a 4th liner. He isn't even talented enough to be a 13th forward. Quite simply he is horrendous and a terrible player. He can lead the Amerks in the AHL where he belongs.

Oh me either. I'm sure my frustration level with Regier will be through the roof by July 20th. So it goes. But this one is at least nice to see.

And to the pacifists, what can you say about Leggio? If anyone deserves better treatment would be him no? AHL talent is AHL talent. Personally I would say good for Matt Ellis. But he is a career Captain of a minor league team and there isn't anything wrong with that.
Guess I'm checking out again.

Thanks

They wouldn't be doing him any favors re-signing him if Miller might be back because then he'd end up an AHL back-up to Hackett. That's why Darcy said that he told Leggio there might be an opportunity for him if he's patient. That means if Miller is treated he can sign here and either be the NHL back-up or AHL starter.

You can join me in standby mode for the next 3 years if ya want, because most of his moves won't reveal their success/fail level until then(except maybe Grigs). After the Miller/Vanek trades, there will be nothing else but developmental moves, and I trust he will get the best deal available in those trades.

Haha, nice. Someone will have to fill in Nichushkin's spot when he bolts for the K after failing to master the finer aspects of dangling in his own end.

It had better take him less than 3 years to get a quality product on the ice in Rochester.

Yeah really, it's not something that's a matter of building a team over years. The turnover of vets in the AHL is huge, I imagine the vast majority of them are on 1-2 year deals. The level of prospects who happen to be on your AHL team (as opposed to juniors, Europe, or Buffalo) is also a bit random and not something you plan for from a Rochester team-building perspective.

All it takes is for Darcy to go out there and sign the right veterans. He could do that in a single offseason.

Lindy Ruff bursts into tears that his favorite player can't follow him to Dallas.

Good signing for Rochester. If he's playing in Buffalo, we have injury problems.
