And Gionta had much better numbers. Had a 48 goal season and 3 consecutives 20 goal seasons before we signed him. Clarkson has a 30 goal season, that's about it

That was their last compliance buyout...Hopefully, they'll be punished for their stupidity!
Now they are stuck with Liles.

Clarkson scores 10-15 goals a year even strength except for his career year. Hope somebody gives him 5 mil per year.

Can Asham still play? He's got good skill for a 4th liner.

He is too big for our team. We will get Briere and then watch Ottawa, Toronto and Boston squirm. Can't wait for the 2014 draft as that is all we will have to look forward to. Now i know how the Oilers fans feel.

I still would love Clarkson but I guess he's as good as gone.

I wouldn't mind seeing us bring back Asham, he'd bring some toughness to the team, and he's not a terrible player either.

Why sign Briere to 4M$. But not give 6 to Iginla. The 2nd is more what we need.

Iginla can't take a spot in l'Antichambre once his contract expires

The New York Rangers have waived Arron Asham.
He is on regular waivers and not the one needed to facilitate a buyout. Asham had two goals and 50 penalty minutes in 27 games with the Blueshirts this past season. He has one year left on his contract at $1 million.

Darroll Powe has been placed on waivers by the New York Rangers.
He isn't on unconditional waivers so it's unclear what the Rangers will do if he clears. Powe played in 42 games between Minnesota and New York last season. He also skated in three playoff contests before being sidelined with a concussion.

Wonder if either could help us on the 4th line?

Toronto will likely be the biggest winner in UFA's, with the buyout of grabo, both the leafs and the isles have the most cap space of all NHL teams. So if they are into Clarkson as much as has been rumoured then kiss him goodbye for idiot money.

Go Go Eric Nystrom!

Would he come here to be a #4 center?

Edmonton has put Eric Belanger on unconditional waivers with the purpose of buying out the remainder of his contract.
He has one year left on his contract and was set to earn $1.25 million next season. Belanger's buyout will erase his $1.75 million cap hit from the Oilers salary cap. The veteran center didn't score a goal and had only three assists in 26 appearances last campaign.

God I love Asham. Not quite sure he's got it anymore, though.

Never should have traded him.

As a Habs fan stuck here in Edmonton I can tell you without a doubt that this guy was completely useless for the Oilers. Stay far away, better options available. Same goes for Smithson, just non-factors. Halpern is a better option, so that gives you an idea.

Toronto has a lot of cap space but half their team is UFA or RFA.

Grabovsky Bozak Kadri McArthur Franson Gunnarson Fraser Kostka O'byrne and Bernier are all either UFA or RFA or bought out.

Plus Frattin was traded.

They need like 4 top 9 forwards including two top 2 centers.
