it's not a video game... "top line" doesn't mean your three best players.

Morrow is more than capable of still playing 13-14min/night, and playing a useful role.

Komisarek, if you actually watched him play, was perfectly fine in a bottom-pairing role, hence why he's going to sign somewhere for sub-2M$. He's a much better fit as a CHEAP temporary fill-in for Emelin than overpaying in years & $ for one of the slightly better UFA options out there.

some oiler fan comments on eager:

Eager was never an enforcer, if the team brought him in to be one, they are idiots who can't see past his size.

He's a physical 4th line agitator, a bigger(but less effective) Matt Cooke. His main ability is that he can actually forecheck compared to most big 4th liners since he can skate.

"Not surprised Neilson got a good performance out of him down in OKC, veteran team better able assign stable roles to players, and Eager always was a big game playoff warrior."

"I'd welcome him back next season, however I'd like a guy like Magrattan to alternate in and out of the lineup with him depending on who we play. In theory Eager and Brown should be a strong forechecking duo with their speed."

At the start of the year alot of people were asking for Eager to be bumped up into a top 9 or even top 6 role. The guy is effective when he wants to be.

The problem I see with Eager or anyone is that the Oilers were asking the 1 player to be the only one to take care of the fighting. That is a huge load for one guy. Struds talked about that situation on his show and how it is an empty feeling when you are the lone person on a team that is expected to drop the gloves.

"I think a 4th Line mix of that featured Eager and Brown could be effective. I for sure would be brinigng him to camp to fight for that spot and if he doesnt win it he has shown that he can be a great vet for the farm team."

I'm not really one who wants Gionta gone but he sounds like exactly what Kekalainen is looking for. Any interesting players in Columbus?
They might go after Michael Ryder IMO.

Hey guys!

I am doing a great little comparison between Price and Rask (all stats and development) due to their draft year and round and had a couple questions for the Price experts here:

1. In 2007-2008, 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 did Price hit any of his performance bonuses in any of those three seasons? I couldn't find confirmation and figured some of you guys would know.

It isn't a bashing thread at all as I love this comparison but I wanted to see which goalie has been paid more over their career to get to this point. This situation isn't a clear cut as two forwards being drafted and compared because goalies rarely jump right into the NHL as early as Carey did.

I will also be taking into consideration the taxes in Montreal playing a factor.

Cheers!

I want Clowe and Clarkson.

Then trade Pleks and Gionta, and get rid of Moen.

I'm not opposed to the cheap signing of Komi to fill in until Emelin returns if we can't get anything else.. We're pretty thin with Emelin injury.. Markov Komi?, Gorges Subban, Bouillon Tinordi.. I'd rather Komi than Drew to be honest

That makes us a worse team. Plekanec is the best player between those 5.

As the offseason unfolds, I believe the options best suited for our club are:

1. Stalberg
2. Clowe
3. Horton
4. Clarkson

the problem remains that I don't believe we are the front runners for any of them

Maybe Plek is the better all around player, but it would make the team tougher, bigger and grittier while opening up a center spot for Galchenyuk. And Clowe and Clarkson are able to score as many goal as Plek. Overall, the Habs would be a better team because Plek would be easier to replace while nobody can do the job Clowe and Clarkson would do.

I think he will sign here. Fits well. A good winger to play with Plekanec. Really good skater plus good size.

When it comes to getting a 4th line Center. Boyd Gordon is much better option than Hendricks, he is One of the best at taking faceoffs and very solid defensively.

That's scary over a 82 games season. Not a very good team, IMHO.

I'm warming up to the idea of getting Briere, mainly because he's UNREAL in the playoffs... which couldn't be said about many of our forwards.

If we go for a skilled/smallish player, he's the guy I would target first. Way before Elias. Way before Bouchard. Way before all the guys in that mold. His versatility also makes him interesting...

If we sign him, anything around 3.5M/per for two years is acceptable to me.

He sustained an eye injury and missed about a month. Was not the same after the injury it seemed. I like his game: energy guy who gets a few hits in each game, kills penalties and can contribute a bit offensively.

Not sure about his health status regarding the eye.

Incredible how MTL's medias suck. Portzline is reporting TONS of stuff on who the Jackets are calling right now... meanwhile, nothing about Montreal is being reported. Bunch of clowns.

One doesn't prevent the other with 9M in cap space.

Depends what you want:

Gordon is a solid defender and can help in the dot - but he is not physical. A slightly bigger Halpern.

Hendricks has plenty of physicality, will stand up for teammates, and hits a ton. He can take too many penalties at times and is a late bloomer. Only been in NHL for 5 years but is 32 years old.

Warming up to Briere?
Have you ever fell down a flight of stairs head first?
Any pucks in the head?

No Briere...
