Kings & Lightning Talking to Bruins About Seguin [Traded to DAL]

"The Bruins are a fascinating team right now and Seguin is surprisingly believed to still be in play despite the common belief that Horton will not be back...(although there are people who believe a contract extension is quietly being worked on with the Bruins) There were rumors the Flames have interest, but today I have heard both the Kings and Lightning are talking to the Bruins..."

Curious as to why would the Kings be interested when they already have Toffoli?

The Kings would have to give up too many assets to acquire him, then figure out how to pay him.

Why would the Kings give up assets when they could simply make a run at Iginla?

Lightning fans, feel free to chime in!

You'd have to think Boston would want some solid picks/prospects/young cheap NHLers going the other way.

Seguin's playoffs aside, he should have immense trade value. From TB, Connolly++ could make sense. From the Kings? I guess Toffoli++?

What the kings would have to give up would not be worth it period. There is no way LA guts their team to get him.

Good lord, imagine St. Louis - Stamkos - Seguin on one line....

Or even Carter/Richards - Kopitar - Seguin.

Lightning involvement is a pretty obvious speculation point, as they are looking to replace a pretty high-profile 2C. Whether Seguin is the guy to do that or not is up for debate. They might have the prospect firepower to swing a trade, depending if the Bs like Connolly and/or Koekkoek.

Who'd you hear this from, Matt? Or is the italicized from one of your own blogs? As in, is this your source or Eklund's?

This is a Matt Barry HockeyBuzz rumor... Seguin? Not a whole lot of sense there. We'd be giving up a handsome package, and then would likely turn around and force him to the wing. We'd have to give up Brown or Williams, and then a high prospect like Toffoli or Pearson, and then another high pick which we've been low on for a few years and will continue to be after the Regehr trade.

I have no idea where you get these fantasies. I have no doubt that GM's bounce these ideas off each other all the time, especially to gauge league value, but this insinuates lunacy. It would have to be a three way trade to make any sense. Such as the Bruins trading Seguin for Bobby Ryan and then the Kings trading for Ryan, or some other impossibility. Just isn't going to happen. Dean is looking to keep this team in tact. It has very few weaknesses and the core is rock solid and signed to last.

i dont see chiarelli moving seguin for anything less then fair value, if not overpayment. im not even going to speculate what a reasonable proposal would be but rest assured you are going to have to give up something you really dont want to in order to get chia to agree to move seguin.

I'm sure Lombardi and Yzerman, like the other competent GMs in the league, are doing their due diligence in calling to get a grasp on the asking price, if only to get a better understanding of trade market value overall. I would consider any insinuation of interest beyond that to be speculation, but what do I know.

Practically everyone on HFboards thinks Hedman is awesome and they all think Seguin sucks, as perfectly exemplified in this thread haha

If Yzerman is looking at Seguin it won't be for Hedman. Tampa needs defence and passing over Jones at the draft means Hedman is not going anywhere for a while if ever.
