Detroit Red Wings #3 Prospect

1.) Calle Järnkrok - 21, C/RW: 6'0" 176 lbs. Gävle, SWE 52.50%
2.) Petr Mrázek - 21, G: 6'1" 187 lbs. Ostrava, CZE 63.00%

Usually wait at least the full 24 hours, but this is a complete runaway for Mrazek as is the request to add Nick Jensen.

By the way do any of our friends from Sweden have an update on Calle's weight recently or is he still hovering around 176? Seems both Grand Rapids and eliteprospects had him listed there. Interestingly Mrazek is listed at 6'1" by the Griffins and 6'2" by eliteprospects, guessing the Griffins data is correct on that, but he must be close to 6'2".

Naturally I judge all of our goalie prospects based entirely on their height compared to Jimmy. He's taller. #BreakingNews

Jurco. Not close here. Love Sproul but Jurco can do things with a puck humans were not meant to do. I was tempted to try and vote for him both previous times I didn't have a vote.

Expecting a Jurco runaway and that is who I voted for again.

Want to add my favorite Wings prospect Marek Tvrdon.

Right now, I think it's Jurco. But I think Sproul might pass him soon.

I think Sproul can pass everyone on the list. Really a balancing act on how you do this, potential versus where they are now and all that stuff. Personally I still have XO in front of Sproul, not that I expect him to finish higher here.

Have a feeling I will not be voting for Sproul or Pulkkinen when they advance onto the list. I like Sproul a lot but he is still a pretty raw project at this point. I really hope he maxes out because his physical gifts are off the charts.

In terms of true homerun potential Jurco, Mantha, Sproul, Tvrdon, and Marchenko (the last two being longer shots) all have that to varying degrees. Not all will get there, but if one of them maximizes I think we are talking perennial all-star type of talent with their physical gifts.

I stood next to Mrazek a couple weeks ago. I'm 6ft and 1/2in. We were just about dead even, but if anything he was a hair shorter than me. No way he's 6'2".

Or maybe I've hit a growth spurt in my 30s and didn't realize it

I don't get why XO isn't more highly regarded by us. I think he can be a serious minute-eating dman. Is it because guys like Sproul and Jensen are supposed to be more offensive?

Jurco.
Sproul is close and will likely be my vote for #4 but I think Jurco has a better chance at hitting his ceiling which IMO is close to Sproul's ceiling.

Personally, I put our prospects in tier groupings when I think about them, instead of straight rankings. And I have Sproul a tier higher than Ouellet and Jensen. Ouellet may be a little safer, but Sproul has higher upside, based on his tools. Size, skating, and yes, sheer offensive ability, including a howitzer of a shot. Stuff you can't learn (he can learn to play better in his own end, otoh). Ouellet doesn't have any glaring weaknesses, but he just doesn't have the same upside either. Not as tools-y. Just my take.

XO has some offensive ability, but he is a coaches player. He will likely wind up getting love at the NHL level. He fits the Vlasic mold. He plays a mature game, but he lacks elite level abilities in a lot of areas save leadership in terms of what we talk about a lot. I am personally sky high on him. I think Babcock is going to love him and see very little bust in him if any. He is a coaches best friend, he will eat ice time and gain trust in a hurry, he does everywhere he goes. He also strikes me as a guy that would try to stop the Zamboni if he thought it would help his team win.

I don't know that Jensen's offense will translate, but he and Sproul have wonderful skating. It is an important skill set, but Ouellet has a huge hockey IQ for all 200 feet and will gain trust and plays the game within his limitations. So while the upside might not be as high, I think overtime people will warm to just how good Ouellet can be even if his game might be understated at times at the pro level. Will be a guy that his teammates and coaches always point out is so much better than he gets credit for in my opinion.

Jensen for me is a swift skating stay at home option in the future. Personally I really like those players, but it remains to be seen how much offense will translate. If he becomes a third pairing PK guy I will be pretty happy, he could hit the top 4, but really I don't think especially here that the PP time is going to be there for him. He lags behind Sproul and Marchenko in terms of that ability. Jarnkrok also likes to play the right point. So that just isn't the future I see for him and hope he rounds into the Bret Hedican player I think he can be.

Jurco. One of the few players in our system with truly elite scoring potential.

Voted Jurco (damn auto-correct keeps trying to change that into Jedi!) and since you ask, Järnkrok was 182 in May.

Jurco.

Add Marchenko.

On the XO front, I agree with a lot of what Jaster and Z-Era already said. I was tempted to go with him here, because I think he'll be ready very soon, even though I like Sproul's upside a lot more.

Okay, because we ALL know who's going to win:

http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/sh....php?t=1457139

22 votes? 22! That's it? You're kidding me right? How many people voted in this thread alone?

FlashyG is the guy who makes Red Wings GDT; we're in danger of losing to the ISLANDERS and only 22 of you voted?

Rookie user is ashamed of you guys; at least I have an excuse. I don't get a vote.

Went with Jurco this time. I'm going with Ouellet next time, as I am an unabashed XO fanboy.

I question his compete level; doesn't always keep his legs moving. I wonder if he has the necessary "heart". Maybe if he spends some time hanging around Danny Cleary?
