It has not been decided. Goalies will split time until one established himself as "the man".

Hackett is going to be the starter this season.

He's played better throughout camp and the bit of preseason so far, and being a veteran with a lot more experience then Esche will only help his chances.

I doubt that Hackett will play 60 games, it'll probably be somewhere around a more even split with Esche, but Hackett will be the Flyers starter this season.

That's my .02 cents.

After last night's game, I'm hoping Esche gets to be starter.

You guys will love Hackett, he is a great guy and a pretty good keeper when he is healthy, wich hasnt been the case for few seasons now.

Yeah, let's forget about how Hackett went 60+ minutes of shutout hockey in this preseason, and just about everybody who's seen him play in a game or in camp, has been really impressed.

Why is it that only the negative things get recognized?

Oh yeah, this is Philadelphia, my mistake.

No, it's because its preseason and Flyer fans should know better than to beleive the preseason is the real deal (let alone the first 4 months of the season). We all know when the real team is playing, until then any comment is fair game.

So, it's OK to get upset and think the world is ending when Hackett has a subpar performance, but it's not OK to recognize it when he does well?

Hmm, I think I get it now.

I'm not a fan of Hackett and he has been very good in the preseason, but I will reserve my complete jugdement for when the going gets tough, and i'll be the first one to recognize him for that.

Preseason yes, but that doesn't take away from the fact that it is still a representation of how capable a goalie (or any player for that matter) is in handling different situations. The pre-season may not count, but it is far from pointless.
