I'll give it up to Keith he will go into the hall of fame on the strength of 2010 alone, but regular season does matter, and to say that Keith is a clear cut better dman after this year just because the Hawks made a run and the Habs got knocked out early is silly, you already know the two years after 2010 were not gems for Keith especially in the playoffs.

Most analysts and spots writers would say Keith>Subban at this point in time although Subban is much better on the powerplay

Keith is better than Subban...

I go with 2.0 for Leddy. Bowman was fast getting it done and Leddy has no leverage at all

**Partial Hawks fan saying Subban > Keith.. He passed Duncan over last year, albeit slightly.

Is the Keith vs. Subban debate really relevant to Leddy's contract?

This is what happens when teams don't disclose their contracts. Nothing else to talk about yet.

That's mean ... but deviously cool

Subban set the bar for bridge contracts at $2.875M last year. Leddy doesn't come close to Subban (yet ... fingers crossed that someday soon he will), so even after allowing that a year has elapsed and salaries inflate, Leddy should be well below $2.875M, and your $2.3M guess sounds about right to me.

So that's $2.7 per year for Nick Leddy in Chicago. $5.4 Million total!
0.5 Million more than what most Hawks' fans expected.

^ Any legitimacy to this? Or just speculation?

If it's 2.7 that's a little more than I expected, but all in all not too harmful. I'm okay with it.

It does seem like an okay bridge contract for someone you still have hopes for.

Wow, good for him. BUT, for someone who has played several hundred games in the NHL, yet gets 3-4 minutes of time in the finals, that is a lot.

BTW, he may be a second pairing defensemen on another team. Maybe. Problem? He is small and can't play any defense.

Also, with respect to scoring, keep in mind he plays on one of the highest scoring teams in the NHL. On a much weaker team, he wouldn't have anywhere near those numbers.

Is this the guy that was benched in the finals?

And why the hell would this turn into a Keith vs Subban discussion?

Leddy has played 176 games ,< hardly hundreds of games in NHL

And he improved his D a lot this year. Q just didn't like how he looked vs B's and felt comfortable giving Hawks top 5 (Which is great group) more minutes

Leddy creates a lot of the offense that leads to his points. He is 2nd best Hawk (Behind Kane) at bringing puck into zone

That's what I am saying. It's like having a steak vs. lobster discussion in front of a KFC menu.
