Agreed on the price-tag. Give Blum that offer and let him be our 7th D-Man - you know he'll get chances with injuries. He's still young, maybe there's something there to work with. If not, it's just a small contract.

He seems to want to be here, so if there's mutual interest, that'd be nice.

totally OT but pretty crazy nonetheless:

@Darrendreger

Huge trade in the works. Boston and Dallas close on a deal sending Tyler Seguin to Stars for Loui Eriksson. Other parts involved as well.

Wow at the report Dreger just Tweeted - Stars and Bruins working on a trade involving Seguin, Eriksson and more?

There goes my Eriksson + Twins pipedream.

Wow, everything is happening.

That's a mighty big risk for both teams.

Less of a risk for Boston. Eriksson is already well established. Seguin has the potential, but there are definitely some concerns as Chiarelli mentioned.

Edit - **** toronto for making these guys a powerhouse team

I feel like Boston will be adding something to their side of the deal to ditch even more salary.

Dallas was desperate for a center because they want to move Benn to the wing full time...good deal for both sides. Eriksson will fit nicely on the wing in Boston.

Depending on what else is involved, I think that's a steal for Boston.

Seguin clearly has pissed of Boston's management and seems to be regressing (big head?).

Gives Boston a better player IMO at a smaller cap hit which will allow them to be more flexible going forward.

I like Eriksson but I feel like he went from an underrated guy, to one of the more overrated guys. Good top 6 winger but I doubt he ever reaches the heights that a guy like Seguin could potentially reach. That's why I think Boston is taking a bit of a risk here.

That being said, I think it's a good deal for both teams. Boston is clearly in win now mode and Eriksson is far more established.

Seguin at C and Benn on the wing? Just need to add Evander Kane and you've got yourselves a world class ********* line.

Bieksa/Gilbert swap is something I am also down with.

Edit - Grabovski is going to get $4M, minimum, this summer.
Why would they buy Grabo out if he's worth 4 mill?

I hope you are wrong and we make room for him

I'd let him walk and take Calgary's 1st, 2nd and 3rd rounder next year.

His old coach...?

He's worth offer-sheeting, at his price level. Giving up a 3rd round pick for a legit starting D is a trade I make anytime it's offered.

Lots of teams. Look at the compensation chart. Then look at the Canucks cap space. Then look at Tanev's capabilities and right handed shot. He is the poster boy for offer sheets in the low to no comp range. What do the Canucks do with a 3 million one year offer sheet? Even if we match it will hurt us bad against the cap. Edmonton can and should offer sheet him. MacT will not be doing his job if he does not.

Edmonton
Colorado
NYI
Anaheim
LA

take your pick.

Would you be happy with a 2nd rounder for Tanev?

Yeah, no kidding. That 1st has a decent chance of being first overall.

And a 2nd. Don't forget it's $32M/5 years, not 8 which is illegal, or 7.

They won't offer in that range....they'd offer in the top of the 2nd round comp range. And that my friend, would totally suck.
