Just loose speculation: 4th period suggests Detroit, Chicago, St Louis, Nashville, Calgary and Anaheim would be teams showing interest. Only Detroit is in the East of those teams, could be a positive.

I think the issue is that with Grabo bought out, Toronto is going to be shoveling serious money and term in Weiss' direction. It's likely to put the Wings out of the running.

But their trash could be our treasure.

Am I missing something here?
I thought the player had to be put on waiver by Wednesday noon for compliance buy-out.

Compliance buy-out dead line is Thursday at 5PM(not 100% sure), Grobo won't be able to clear wavier until Friday at noon.

Also: Would you guys claim him instead of waiting for him get bought out?

^ How many years for Grabo? His $5.5M hit is there for the taking at four years.

edit: Answered.

Pretty much the great thing is how great they fit together with Datsyuk at KHL.

Or do you prefer Pavel to play with Abdelkader and Sammy?

Really would love Gabbo. But not a 5M. Whatever. If it means no Cleary, I'm all for it.

Lol, I'm telling you. Watch him play. His relationship with Pavel isn't why we want him.

I can't say this any other way: You know the way Franzen is a ****ing ghost even when he's getting points? You go whole games without remembering him do anything?

Grabovski is the exact OPPOSITE of that player. Just watch a game, trust me.

We haven't had a player like this guy in a long damn time.

Too expensive. Might as well just have signed Lecavalier if we were willing to do 4 years at 5.5.

edit: he also has a NTC.

Grabo won't get that much as a UFA prolly around 4 mill. I'd still prefer Weiss but he'd be my 2nd choice ahead of Cullen.

If you think of his value as 4M. There is a chance that he will be picked up in wavier.
Teams that contacted Weiss, Flippula, Bozac, etc. and was told that they are not in the running could just claim Grobo even at 1~1.5M extra.

I think Grabo has every right to ask for what Fil is asking, but he could choose his destination a little more carefully due to the buyout money he'll be getting.

Eaves could be traded, or waived.

Q, yes.

Don't see that happening with Sammy. No one wants player with 3 mil cap hit who is like what, 37? And was injured for most of the past season.

He's going to get that much in UFA.
Weiss is going to get that much in UFA
Flip is going to get that much in UFA

29-30 year old proven centers are fairly rare.

Toronto dumped Grabo to go Weiss, apparently.

So now you're down to two.

My guess is you're going to have a 10 team bidding war on two centers, with with the losers getting old guys like Cullen.

Pick Grabovski off waivers, and now you've got nine teams overbidding on Flip.

Gonna assume whoever said the dates got it wrong, it seems like this is "known" now.

Also, I also live in Toronto and I think the other person is wrong. We absolutely want him and yes he IS that good.

The Leafs aren't well coached. Shocking. We know Randy round here already.

Grab Grabovski from waivers
Caphit does not fit as that 5.5 million. We would lose Brunner on that case. It's better try to sign him after a buyout with cheaper price (~4 million range).

Quote:
Babcock would hate Grabovski
Yeah right, he would hate that kind of tenacius player that is hard to play against and has already chemistry with Datsyuk.

Btw, I love how everyone here willing accepts that reality and NHL XX have no bearing on each other:

Yet, whenever we talk trades all we talk is mythical X box scenarios where the computer wants guys like White, Sammy, etc.

Unreal. It doesn't even make me mad, I just can't figure out why y'all bother.

What would his cap hit be if claimed? If it's 4.5 I'd take him but not any more.
