*OFFICIAL* Acadie–Bathurst Titan 2013-2014 Thread

Now that the draft and Euro draft are gone by, the picture becomes a little clearer:

Goaltenders:
the two main ones will be Jacob Brennan,19, and Mason MacDonald,17.
However the Titan have:
MIguel Sullivan,18
Alex Collette,18
Frederic Foulem,16 who could battle for the backup job in case one of Brennan/MacDonald is traded.
Both want the starting job and have the same agent; so it will be interesting to watch what happens there.

defensemen: by order
Sean Girard, 20
Francois Godin, 20
Alex Gosselin,18
Anthony Gingras,18
Guillaume Brisebois,16
Alex Pisarik,18
Yan Dumontier,19
Marc-Andre Gauvreau,16
Gabriel Labbe,18
Alex MacNeil,18
Hugo Robichaud,16
Antoine Arsenault,17

These are the main competitors for regular jobs next season and I fully expect Girard to be moved in the near future as there is depth and the Titan are in rebuilding mode.

Forwards by order:

Rafael Lafontaine,19
Patrik Zdrahal,18
Adam Chapman,19
Alex Soumakis,19
Dominic Beauchemin,20
Robert Pelletier,19
Adam Stevens,19
Patrick Walsh,19
Andrew Meredith, 19
Joey Bernard, 18
Alex Gallant, 17
Nicholas Blanchard,17
Christophe Boivin,17
Jordan Boyd,16
Riley Scott,16

These are the main competitors for the regular 12 jobs.
However the Titan added 5 FAs with size lately and no doubt that some other rookies could also create a surprise.

My take on the team is that they will be hard to play against, specially in the KCI and that they will be as good or better than the last season edition even losing all that fire power.

The other interesting aspect is that there will be more than 1500 season ticket holders next season, bringing in crowds over 2000 every game.
This alone should motivate the players in a big fashion.
A loud and rowdy KCI can make an impact.

I'm from Bathurst. I love the team and I want them to succeed so bad this year, but reality is they are still 1 year away from contending. They'll cause a few surprises this season, but I predict a 12th place finish.

If they trade a brennan or mcdonald, Sullivan will make the team no doubt about it, Foulem needs a lot of work and Colette... Well its colette lets just leave it at that.

I understand wanting to make a change but this logo is lame. I liked the old one much better. What does Titan nation think about the new logo, chsb ?

It is only for this season as a vintage logo for selling jerseys and souvenirs.

I don't think it will be the permanent logo.

"special edition" logo.. hmm.

I certainly hope its not permanent, looks like it was made by a first year graphic arts student. all you need is a very basic understanding of Vectors... not to mention it looks like it was just traced off the old logo. I really hope they didn't pay very much for the design.

Who really cares that much about a one time shot logo which will be worn on the jersey shoulders only?

It might be a good midsummer heat subject at the best.

Pretty scary incident at camp today. A rookie forward collapsed on ice and received CRP before being rushed to the hospital. Pretty serious situation for both the player and team.

He just passed away, confirmed by their facebook page. RIP

Quote:
It is with deep regret that the Acadie-Bathurst Titan announces the death of one of its young prospects, Jordan Boyd. The 16 year-old was skating during an individual training session when he suffered a discomfort and collapsed on the ice. The Acadie-Bathurst Titan medical team tried to revive him several times. The young player was transported to hospital where his death was confirmed by a doctor.

The Ligue was informed of the incident and is working in collaboration with the team to bring the necessary support to the parents and players in this difficult time. Jordan Boyd had had a complete medical evaluation prior to the camp and didn't seem to have any medical problems that prevented him from participating. We are waiting for the hospital's autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. We offer our deepest condolences to his loved ones.

In order to protect his family's privacy, the organization will not emit any further comments on this case for the moment

Apparent heart attack. Best guess would be he had an undetected condition.

According to Titan report, he just had a complete medical exam and nothing was pointing to any physical problem...

Very very sad news as I was there and saw him collapse as other fans did.

I wish his family and the Titan family my deepest sympathies.

Something I don't like seeing and something that should not happen at such a young age.

My prayers to the family.

It would have to be. I guess it's about to become mandatory to have these machines to detect heart diseases. I know after the Cherepanov death the NHL added a series of tests, hopefully once we know what happened, a new series of tests will be added so that we can avoid these types of scenarios.

RIP Jordan. It's always a shame to lose someone so young. Thoughts and positive energy to his family, friends and teammates.

I sure hope it's not another case of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. I lost a friend in 2008 (Mickey Renaud) due to this.
