not a bad move for the HABS really, he is a midget but can score. Gionta and Thomas are not alone!
You know the contracts will run out at like the same age for both players right? Briere will be 37 and Lecavalier will have just turned 38. And the price is only 500k different, so I don't see how the Vinny one is nuts but this one is fine.

Briere is actually a center. The Flyers moved him to the wing from time to time.

As i mentioned on the Habs board, this looks like it could be a ploy for Habs management to cut down on hotel expenses...

Tim Connolly's deal was horrendous from DAY 1, this one at least has the chance to be good.

We had no choice but to sign Connolly, the Habs actually had a choice to look for someone younger.

I don't think it is that bad at all. It is only 2 years and 4m seems okay. What did people expect Briere to sign for? 1 year/2m? He got bought out, not lobotomized.
It's not 100% ideal, but you can't always pick and choose with the centers and other than PHI they did really need a center.

Low risk move so can't bash it, but he's not really the type of guy they need in MTL. He's played well in big games which is always nice though

Yes. But one runs out in two years and the other in five. Having a shorter term Briere gives us some offensive depth now and we are not tied down with him in a couple years when younger players can step up and other contracts have to be extended. The problem is we really need size.

Briere - Desharnais - Gionta

The biggest and meanest line in the NHL coming to an Arena near you. I guess after the line brawl with Ottawa Montreal decided to get smaller to avoid such an embarrassment again.

Don`t bother about his size, that man is a playoff monster. probably would have done great this years playoffs but flyers didn`t walk that line this year

This is a good signing, he's a PPG in the playoffs, he's there when it matters.

He's going to make a lot of people eat crow.

How tall is that Kane guy who won the Conn Smythe ?
