I live in St. Louis and due to watching him a lot of games many people wanted him out because he has not been playing to his potential and became the odd one out. Fans here seem to be more inclined to keep Stewart and Pietrangelo, which forces someone out.

Backlund will be going to arbitration. The flames clearly do not value him as comparable to other players who put up similar numbers, not to mention the advanced stats. Unless the team improves their offer, he will indeed seek arbitration.

Arbitration is never a good thing. Team bashes guy, guy loses confidence. Don't forget, overseas is an option. He's a star in Sweden.

A healthy season and proper usage, I'm sure you would be more than happy of his performance. And locked in for 3yrs between $1.8-$2.2 is not a bad thing.

Hence why the arbitration unless they offer a better deal. Backlund is absolutely justified to take it to arbitration. It's not like he his trying to price himself out of favor with management or fans.
I stand corrected. I was talking out of my ass. You guys are muich better interweb junkies than I.

I shall bow out ungracfully and hang my head in shame, and go enjoy a few pops with my one rich friend

So as I understand it, a list of all players who filed for arbitration has been made public, and TJ Brodie is not on it.

Players need at least four years of pro experience before they can file for arbitration. Brodie isn't eligible since he's played just three.

Me too.

Or... go big with an offer of 8 years at between 3 & 4, just to lock him up for a while.

I didn't make a mistake. In fact I worded it correctly. If they do not improve their offer of another 1 yr deal, he will go to arbitration to maximize the dollars on that 1yr deal.

They offered a 2 yr at 1.5, which is around what his agent was asking.

I'm no insider, I can care less what my 'net-cred' is lol. Just passing on info from a friend who is fairly close to the situation.

You just said you made it all up.

Love the backtracking. You were wrong, not admitting it just makes you look worse.

I thought it was pretty obvious he was being facetious, he highlighted specific sentences in his responses to defend himself and then followed it up with a pretty blatant sarcastic reply. Surprised people took him seriously, I kind of thought you guys were being sarcastic in your posts, guess not haha.

That's the key, though, isn't it? He highlighted only the parts of his posts which he could defend. Note that "Backlund is going to arbitration" was not bolded, "The Flames clearly don't value him as comparable to other players who put up similar numbers" was not bolded, etc.

If he was being sarcastic about standing corrected, then that just makes the lunacy worse!

Not sure where to file this but I haven't seen it mentioned...

Feaster said in his post-camp interview that he is looking to give Brodie a bridge contract, and is not willing to give him anything long-term. He wants Brodie to show that he can do it again, which is definitely a smart way to go. Brodie will have arbitration rights starting next season.
