Actually, I was randomly wonering what happened to Colton Teubert (because that kid was kinda hyped back in the days....) and that's how I found, well, that tidbit of info on Plante.

Ha ha! Glad it's not Hamilton. Size - yes. Toughness and skating - no.

If anything, that could be a reminder that high draft picks (Plante was picked 15th overall in 2007) can fall flat on their faces. It isn't THAT much of a surprise for Plante, though.

What would it take to get Kyle Clifford as he is exactly what this team needs? Pateryn and a 3rd?

Kings need to dump a Dman as well:

LeBlanc + 2014 2nd rounder for Clifford + Ellerby

L.A. get to free up cap and also get the player with the highest ceiling in LeBlanc, plus a nice pick...Habs get grit & size on the wing and on D...

That's a steal for L.A

Leblanc and a 3rd for Clifford and a conditional pick

This trade addresses two big needs.

More balance at F for our small guys. Bigger blue liner. Makes a lot of sense.

Pretty high probability it wont happen.

Why a pick? The Habs need help NOW on defense.

Look at the end of the season when Emelin went down to injury. The team started playing worse because we have no depth at D to replace him.

Diaz has concussion issues. Markov is playing on borrowed time with his knees. Boullion is still small and one year older (slower).

To hell with picks. We stocked up on players in this draft. Its time to start focusing on the present.

I would make that trade, but that's just because I don't care for Leblanc and I really like Clifford.

But adding two roster players creates a huge logjam.

How do you figure??...Leblanc for Clifford is great value for L.A., as they get cap space & the player with the higher ceiling...we get the player with the physicality we need on the 3rd line...Ellerby for a 2nd is also good value for both teams; Ellerby is still raw, but has the talent to bloom into a good crease-clearing defensive Dman, plus he's huge, just what we need on the back end...value is there for both teams...

Not done...

Once we have Clifford, Moen is unnecessary...Edmonton needs a 3rd line, so we help out:

Moen to Edmonton for a pick

We could also probably find a buyer for Desharnais & Gorges in Washington, if the Habs so desired once Emelin returns from injury...

Speaking of Edmonton.... still hoping for MB to sign Fistric for the NHL team and Teubert for the AHL team

Price and Ellerby are cousins by the way.

And Shane Doan too.

Just curious, since the Nucks trade, has anyone heard anything from Bobby Lou? Did I miss it? I would think he is none too happy?

So the great untouchable "should have been a Norris Candidate and winner" Dion Phaneuf is on the trading block. Always found Neon Dion to be a tad overrated, which was amplified 1000-fold when he was traded to the Leafs. He's a good number three guy, but a pseudo number one. Couldn't take the way the Leafs fans spoke about him on the mainboards.

He was even voted the most overrated player by NHL players

Despite the fact the Toronto Maple Leafs are currently sitting in a playoff spot, their captain Dion Phaneuf isn't getting much love from his peers around the league.

Sports Illustrated polled 161 NHL players asking them to name the most overrated player in the league and Phaneuf topped the list.
I also love the way TSN had to include "despite the fact that TML are currently sitting in a playoff spot"...as though it's some great accomplishment and that it absolves or undermines anything the players actually believe.

Couldn't agree more. He isn't someone I would want as my number 1 defensemen.

Sam Garnier

But seriously, how does a team issue a statement without double checking a player's name. It's extremely embarrassing.

You really think that Keaton Ellerby is the answer?

He's another depth defenseman and we have those in bunches, I'd play Tinordi before Ellerby.

Because the help will come soon from within, this team is building towards a brighter future, we won't lose those assets on someone who can barely help us now. Our D should be fine this year as Tinordi and beaulieu are ready for the NHL

Report out of Czech that Jagr is signing with NJ. Not sure if true but same paper was first to report Jagr to Bruins at deadline.
