What was the deal with this talk period? Did it apply to every player or just those getting bought out?

I'm just wondering if we should really expect a rush of signings today if teams have been able to get verbal commitments for several days.

Should have kept Grabovski. Kadri + Grabovski + Bolland is a good fit.

Kadri, Bolland, McClement... Colburne?

I think any team that dumps 2 NHL top 9 centers in one offseason... is due for a set back (bozak, grabo)... those 2 took like 60% of the teams faceoffs... Steckel is also gone (10%)

Any pending UFA. Someone on the main board just said actual offers couldn't be made though. If true, that sort of defeats the whole purpose of the time period.

Forgot about Bolland. I don't think they're making a mistake in letting Bozak walk for that kind of money as Bolland's acquisition makes it easier to swallow. They would be better off pursuing a guy like Weiss, a player similar to Bozak but better offensively, for similar money.

Kadri, Weiss/Bozak, Bolland, McClement isn't bad down the middle.

The rift between Carlyle and Grabovski was the main reason for the split according to Toronto media.

Just for pending UFA's. Anyone complianced was free to agree to terms since they were not on an expiring deal.

Then how did Briere and Lecavalier agree to terms?

Shocker....

What's more? The number of FA signed today or title changes to this thread?

And if you think there were no offers made to pending UFAs, I have some swampland....

I have a feeling Regier pursues both Cullen and Gordon hard today.

One or the other would be a solid transition player to handle d-zone duties while the offensive kidlets grow up. I'm long on the Gordon bandwagon, so I'd hope it is him.

I'll take both. Move one to the wing.

To be fair, if he's just starting today, he's already behind the 8 ball.

If Regier had specific targets, he should have been on them for the last 48

I didn't say they weren't made, I'm talking about the rules. Apparently the NHL sent a memo out reminding everyone of the rules after it came out a team made an offer.

Possible, though I don't know if they are keen to take ice time away from Rolston's caddie, err Porter at the #4.

There is suddenly more depth down the middle than in recent years. This is where Darcy can shine. He moves in on weak prey that hasn't found a spot because there are too many UFAs and snaps him up, like a Lydman. A decent stop gap centre, til kids mature, and a depth d-man, could give us a shot at playoffs. Goaltenders will be key still.
The true results of how Darcy did today and over next week will not be known until December. Remember that.

Yeah, I really look forward to a patchwork team getting crushed in the first round of the playoffs.

If Alfie does jump ship....what a dirtbag. Unless there are some serious issues in Ottawa that we don't know about, he's leaving a team that has paid him well over 50 million over his career high and dry. Sign a 1 year deal there with a NMC and request a trade at the deadline to go to a contender. That way they at least get some assets back and you leave on a good note. He stuck around through lean times...now that the Senators are poised to be a contending team again, he's running for the hills.

And a big no thanks on Cullen. He has stated numerous times he doesn't like Buffalo. He's over the hill and his play is declining.
