HABS LIKELY TO PURSUE TRADE MARKET
TheFourthPeriod.com

The Montreal Canadiens, having already signed forward Danny Briere yesterday, are believed to be scouring the trade market more so than the free agent market.
Habs GM Marc Bergevin would like to add another top-six winger, but does not appear interested in overpaying via free agency.
Sounds about right and sounds like the right call.

Quote:
The Canadiens have been linked to St. Louis Blues left wing David Perron and have kicked the tires on Winnipeg Jets sniper Evander Kane, though the price tag on Kane is not one the Habs are expected to pay.
I would give up so much for Kane.

I'm so scared the Habs trade Plekanec instead of Desharnais... Can't believe it's a possibility now.

In 11/12 he got 30 goals/48 points in 80 games.

In 12/13 his production would have likely been similar had it been a full season - On pace for 25 goals/ 41 points in 82 games.

In 09/10 he got his only NHL serious injury amidst a breakout season - on pace for 20 goals / 43 points

3/4 last seasons he's averaged for 20-30g/40-45pts/~10 fights with majority wins. He's going to be overpaid because everyone wants this type of player. He's the same age as Prust too.

I don't think the Fourth period has ever been right....ever. He's much more of a follower and regurgitator than he is a insider and leader.

Bergevin has done a good job and people are overreacting big time, which is to be expected with this passionate fan base. But we should wait until Septembre before we judge his work this summer, one or two trades could change the face of the team drastically...

Why fear? Plekanec will probably bring back alot more value than Desharnais. If it helps the team.. good. Desharnais trade will probably just be prospect or a draft pick that will help the team down the line..

But he can turn around and say we got the "top" UFA on the market.

Darren Dreger ‏@DarrenDreger 6m Leafs would love to add Scuderi to their blueline. All around solid d-man. Sounds like Leafs are Scuderi's top ufa choice. #TSN

Add Twitter and I'm not sure I,ve read 10% of happy people.....I guess that angry people are always the most vocal ones....But honestly, I don't think it has nothing with appeasing people. Some that might have wanted him badly last time around are still frustrated about it even if NOW he signed. And a split in here is not a sign that it appeases people. It divides them.

and that would be fine, we have young C in Eller and Galchenyuk and a vet C in Plekanec, we can get rid of DD without harming our forward corp, so trading him makes sense.

Good! He'll probably have to wait until teams see which UFAs they can get before making a trade.

makes no sense
