Watching some of these deals go down with the length of these contracts, I am glad we are not playing. Maybe a 5-6 D with toughness or a 3-4th line player with a mean streak. Other than that, being a spectator is the way to go. The Briere deal is looking better and better. It would be nice to jettison a small player or two though.
Horton signed in a non-hockey market so he'd be less under scrutiny and pressure...and he gets a 7-year contract???? Probably the worst contract of them all and the day isn't done yet. Even great GM's make stupid mistakes.

People were confused why Bergevin would ruin his rapport with yet another agent by pitching a clearly unattractive one year deal. It makes him look like a penny-pincher and would clearly not be preferred by the target.
