He can skate, has a decent shot from the point, isn't going to be a liability. Usually makes the right decision.

We didn't lose any games in Ottawa because of him, thats for sure..

Glad he got a 1-Way contract for a decent amount of coin for a fringe NHLer

Was a great 7th guy for us who got a lot of games in due to our blueline becoming an infirmary last season. Played 3rd pairing minutes for us and did not look out of place at all.

As a bottom-pair guy, he's fine. Lots of heart. Fantastic character guy. Plays a smart game. Makes the most out of the skill he's got. A very "safe" player.

Well, from that it sounds like he slots in as our fourth defenseman.

In more exciting developments, I'm wearing a blue shirt today.

Well then... this doesn't sound too terrible. Insurance policy signing of course, hopefully he is ok with being the 7th because I don't want him to be a regular, we need upgrades and he's just more of the same.

Has tons of heart. Decent puck skills and above average skater.

Good for depth.

He's also a really nice guy and one could call him a character guy.. . He's worked really hard to be where he is, which also translates to him not letting up on ice. Don't be suprised to see him block some really key shots too...

He's a very servicable 6/7th d-man

True. I didn't mean to be glib. It sounds like they're trying to replicate the success that they had with P.A. Parenteau last year in giving a semi-career minor leaguer who's shown success at the big levels a bigger shot. Seems like he slots in as our #5D behind EJ, Wilson, Hejda, and Barrie.

Depth signing. Plus he's cheap. I don't really care for the signing. I just don't want Roy and Sakic to overpay for anyone that will bite us in the ass. This is a weak UFA year, not much here to go after. Plus it seems that many free agents are looking more for certain cities to live in rather then play in. Example Horton, wanted Columbus because it was a quiet city. Ference to Edmonton to play in his hometown.
