You got a good deal - in fact I feel we may have given up too much. We have loads of depth in prospects but we are not happy to be giving up Silfverberg. He is as safe of a bet as you can find to be a top-six forward who is strong two-way player and a good leader. He had difficulty adjusting to the NA ice this year at first but by the end of his time in the AHL he was just absolutely dominant. In his time in Ottawa it was tough for Silf to get a lot of points with all of our injuries but our coach raved about him. Him and Noesen would be a solid return - adding a first is overkill.
i'll say that i dont really know anything about these 2 prospects.
BUT, it gives us some nice cap space which if we use to get a 2nd line C then i'll be very very happy
Silfverberg is a stud... thats for sure.
And the fact that noessen plays with rakell makes me assume our scouts have a pretty decent book(seeing as they prob spend a lot of time watching rakell) on noessen and added him in the trade for a reason.
I'm fine with this. Bobby isn't a youngster anymore and he had many seasons to show that he can become as good as was projected. He hasn't become bad, but not an elite player either. It's worthless to look at some ancient scouting reports because those projections didn't just hit the mark.
I think Silf, Noesen and 1st round pick is a good deal for Ducks.
Need to check more of those two prospects, but none of them is projected to be a first line winger... Also, I don't think Ottawa will suck next year, so the first rounder doesn't sound like a top-10 one by any mean.
Personally i don't like this trade, we could have get more for Ryan. Especially immediate help.
Wow, this is huge. I was expecting something more proven talent coming back but this return could really turn out to be very good. Definitely boosts our prospect pool.
Bobby was going to be traded sooner or later. Too bad that his value was down after this season, could have had more a year ago I think. But anyway, there was no way to keeping him and his lack of trying and the trouble of finding him a spot were always an issue. He probably scored 40 next year and it sucks to see him go but this was bound to happen.
Now, with the room created, Bob should go after Grabovski, I like the idea of him centering Etem and Silfverberg.
I like the trade for the Ducks. Ryan was underwhelming for a while now and the return is quite nice. I place higher value on the 1st rnd pick than I do Noesen but only due to not knowing much about him. If the Sens have a bad season without their leader in Alfie the Ducks could have a great pick on their hands. The Sens are a good team but if they run into injury trouble again I don't see the same miracle season happening twice. Especially in such viciously competitive new divisions with an owner who is not able to match the cap spending of everyone else in their region.
Thank you to the visiting Sense fans with input and kind words for their former players. It's definitely appreciated.
I don't think we need to say a lot about Ryan, from our part.
Happy that this ended up being a good trade for both sides. Don't think it would have ended up this peaceful with a trade to Philly after all that's been discussed.
