Hey guys, just coming to weigh in on the trade from a Sens perspective.

You guys got two good young players.

Silfverberg has a great shot and smarts for the game. He should be a consistent 20 goal scorer, often hitting 25 and maybe 30 a few times. I can't see him getting more than 60, 65 points simply because he lacks any high end skill besides his shot, and his acceleration is really weak imo. Quick player once he gets going but he's not explosive at all. Same goes for his shot, he sometimes has trouble getting it off. These are all things I expect to improve as he keeps working hard. He will top out as a fantastic #4 fwd imo, definitely an acceptable #3 or even #2.

Noesen is a bit more of a wildcard. That said, I like him a lot. He scores goals in a lot of ways, be it through getting a quick shot off or crashing the net. He's big, strong and hard to move. He steps up in the playoffs. Again, not a great skater. Some think that his lack of speed, combined with what some perceive as a lack of high end skill, will lead to him topping out as a 15g 45pt 3rd line pest. Not the worst outcome by any means but a little disappointing imo. I see him flirting frequently with 25/30 goals while playing an all around, physical game. His numbers took a hit this year as he was cast in a more defensive role, but by all accounts he stepped up and embraced the role. I think his upside is slightly higher than Silfverberg's, but he is much less likely to reach it. Silfverberg WILL be a 20 goal, 50 point man. Noesen might very well be a guy who get 13-17 goals, 35-40 points... much like a Colin Greening. That said, I expect him to be just a cut below Jakob.

Good luck next year, I will certainly be keeping up with the boys this year. Thank you for Ryan, and I promise you will enjoy the guys you got back for him.

Thanks for your post The Ottoman Lion. This trade should work for both sides. The price we got for Ryan was good, basically three 1st round players. Doesn't matter where in between 1st-30th they'll end up picking next year, I have faith for Ducks scouting to draft a good player.

Sounds to me like he was pretty thin skinned about taking ribbing from his teammates.

Sounds like he's pretty thin skinned about everything. Hope it works out for him in Ottawa. Hell of a talent if he can put it together.

I'm sure they were just kidding around, can't believe he'd let that affect him.

Silfverberg will be such a steal for you guys. I envision him being a big game player in the playoffs, he doesn't have any weaknesses to his game that most rookies/young players have. Should be a good addition to your top 6, pk and pp units (and leadership core down the road).

Gonna be catching some ducks games this season.

Reports about Silfverberg from Sens fans makes me very happy. I`m really excited about.
I think he would really benefit from playing with Getz and Perry, assuming he likes to shoot the puck and plays a two way game. He will most likely play on 2nd line with Bonino/Holand-Selanne, though. Defensively responsible player on a line with Teemu is a good thing i guess.

Are you trying to say Penner is not defensively capable?

Well, he didn`t hold his own even against pancaces, as much as i know, NHL players are much more dangerous

He loves to shoot the puck. He was near the top for SOG as a rookie for Ottawa which is pretty impressive. He plays a solid all around game but he is very good defensively as well. He prides himself on playing a solid two way game. Willing to battle for the puck is good and decent playmaking.

My only concern about Silf last year was he looked a little slow with his decision making, like he thought he was still in the SEL and had more time. I think it improves this year.

I think Anaheim as an organization has been pretty good about helping their euro players adapt to NA hockey. But thanks dbu

If your talking about skill alone.. Ryan has more skill.. Silv has the work ethic Ryan doesnt .. Thats the difference..

SUPER early so far, but I am liking what Silf is bringing to the table. Murray def. got great value for Ryan.

I do think Ryan will perform really well with the Sens.

I feel like Ryan is more one/two-dimensional whereas Silfverberg brings a dynamic set of skills. I also think his potential is high.

wayyyy too early to tell right now. ryan's not known for being a quick starter. he also scores quite a bit in bunches.
