I never said I liked them but I will see if Briere can get back on track before saying it's terrible. What scares me the most for next season is not the Northeast as we know it but the Northeast with Detroit and Columbus.

...why is it we only sign goons well on their way down??? Laraque, Cummins, Downey, and on and on...
Are you really gonna miss Phillipe Lefebvre?

Yeah, great moves...

A pint sized guy who's over the hill and a goon who can't play hockey. Forget about players like Bobby Ryan (exactly the kind of player we need) let's get smaller in the top 6and get a talentless goon at the same time. THAT's the way to build a winner.

You know , to get Ryan, Ottawa had to give up some pieces. I'm sick and tired of the whining. Wait 'till the season, if they do bad, I will understand the moaning and crying but right now, it's just a case of never being happy no matter what.

how many times you see the Habs get jumped last year?

Leafs
Boston
Ottawa

all beat downs...there's a glaring weakness, needs to be filled.
Pointless trade? well instead of Josh Gorges having to fight Fraser Mclearn ,,,ya real pointless.....some need to wake up

As i said , i wouldnt stop...i would invite BGL TO CAMP .....That would take care of Chara Lucic Fraser Mclearn ,ORR etc..BGL can take those guys on and down .

Parros could be deputy 2 and Prust deputy 3

Come mess with Habs then , i dare ya

Great idea, I agree that Ryan would be great here.....but, what do we have that could have matched Ottawa's offer.

As for Parros, he is exactly what was needed on the 4th line, a tough as nails guy who can actually play 5-10 mins a game without hurting the team....an we gave up a career AHLer and a 7th.

Yep. And whiners like Lafleurs Guy would have complained that we gave up too much to acquire him had we made such a trade.

We already have our very own floating scoring winger in Pacioretty anyway.

People *****ed a lot about Ryder and he has been better than Ryan each of the past two seasons. If we wanted another floater, we could have kept Ryder and given up nothing to keep him.

Yeah? And what is it that you think Ryan would cost given what Ottawa paid for him?

Patches, Beaulieu +?

The future of this team is kind of stuck at the moment. We need prospects to take some steps forward. The only ones who seem in range of the NHL are Tinordi and Beaulieu. We need to have an excess of prospects and young players that can be moved for help "now." We don't have that. We have just enough currently, and maybe not even that.

The Ducks are the ones who would have needed to add to get Pacioretty. He's better and younger than Ryan.

BGL invited to camp? To do what? Discuss the benefits of veganism and voting for the Greens?

Well the equivalent would likely have been Gallagher + Beaulieu + next year's first.

It's definitely a lot of future talent that you're giving. Ryan IS a good player, and maybe the trade would've been good eventually, but that's the trade that I see a team ready to go for the cup make, and I don't think we're in that position (not sure Ottawa is either, but that's their business).

That's what I am wondering too

How could many one hate on this trade. It's not like we gave up any good/decent pieces

Yeah. Theres something to be proud of here.
Hello? Don't you have to take into account who the teams lost? Like, with Montreal, we say we lost Ryder and gained Briere and Parros, then draw a conclusion.

Well, Toronto lost Grabovski and Macarthur, Boston lost Horton, Seguin, Peverley and Ference, Ottawa lost Alfredsson and Silvfergberg, Detroit is losing Filpulla.

You can't just look at who was added and get scared. Habs lost the least in UFA value, so is less in the hole than everyone else starting out.
