I doubt if he will. Horcoff has better f/o skills, so he will take the draws on the line and having Eakin on the LW and Chiasson/Ritchie/Cole on the RW will make that line a good scoring threat.

Is it really only six hours?

Connauton might accelerate that process if he shows well at the nhl level.

But a player can always make himself expendable.

So I remember seeing someone (I think it was Dreger) post about the Stars looking at Cleary for another winger and was wondering if anyone has heard anything more about that?

I'm still Holding out hope for Brunner, but if Nill rely like him that much, he'd be in Dallas already. Hard not to trust Nill after all the good he's done so far.

Goligoski should stay until we find a suitable replacement for him in the system. The closest we had to that was Morrow, and, well, ya know.

Goose is a very strong 3, and a good 2. He's gonna flourish with Dillon as his partner this year.

All I can remember about Goose last season is how horrible he was in the D zone and how he randomly got points.

Nill shot it down, but I'm already starting to get the idea he's the type to lie through his teeth to media (which I'm personally happy about).

Hours after insinuating he was very happy with his center depth, and indicated he wasn't really looking at adding there, he traded for Horcoff.

Yesterday although ... he was not vague about Cleary. He stated they weren't in on him, but you are correct Dreger and others mentioned they were.

So ... I don't know what that means. He never totally shut down the idea of adding a center, but he specifically said no to interest in Cleary.

Now ... he did say the team would be interested in hockey trades, and like the center situation before acquiring Horcoff he was beating around the bush of being done in free agency. I wouldn't be surprised if they pulled the trigger on someone else if the money and term was right.

This is the guy I really want. He's only been in NA a single season, and he actually improved his goal scoring rate from the regular season to the post season (20 goal pace to 29 goal pace). I think he's get better offensive minutes in Dallas, and I he's worth the gamble to see if he gets even more comfortable in NA next year. Another winger would allow you to spread potentially scorers to each line on the team.

Ya, I saw that too. Also, during the interviews yesterday Nill said "we are looking at one more thing" so I presume that is it.

This will be a good year to see if Goose can rebound.

Damien Brunner pushing for $3-3.5 million per season, 2-3 year deal. Price tag too high for Red Wings.
Dallas could go 2 years for $3 million without making any moves.

If you estimate Nichushkin's contract at $1,775,000, and you carry 13 forwards with Lane MacDermid in the AHL, Dallas would have $2,933,056 in cap space. However, they'd have $850,000 they could exceed the cap because of Nichushkin's bonuses.

Ideally .... Dallas could sign a cheaper D in free agency, and then move Daley or Robidas.

Cole should rebound as well. He responded terribly after the lockout.

Now I'm kind of mad we have Horcoff... oh well.

I assumed that was about signing Ellis because of the off-hand way he said it. Hard to say with Nill.

Yeah he's still hard to read. I'd just really like another winger so they can let Ritchie marinate all season in the AHL. There's no room for him to start, and he'd be one of the top options to get yanked up and down from the NHL to the AHL if Top 6 injuries strike.

If this is true ... gives me hope they'd be interested in another winger:

Led to believe Dallas Stars were among the six teams that called Alfredsson so add them to San Jose, Montreal, Boston and Detroit. #Sens

I think if Nill wanted Brunner we would have him by now. He has the connections and is knowledgable enough to not go crazy on contracts.

I'm still holding out hope, doe

Bananas. His defense is atrocious, and he doesn't really drive the play enough to make up for it. He's a one dimensional offensive #4 who doesn't really add much to the pp either, and the fact that he needs a babysitter should tell you he isn't near being a top pair guy.

good stuff vis--vis scouting for Dallas...

This just in: Longtime DRW scouts Joe MacDonnell (head amateur) & Mark Leach (east area) have jumped to Dallas in Jim Nill's wake.

More on MacD/Leach: Have to presume that Hakan Andersson will be a target for Jim Nill at some pt. HA has close work relationship with McD

Dallas was looking at Cleary, but decided not to pursue him any further. And I'm glad Nill gave up because Cleary has nothing left in the tank.

He just resigned in Detroit for 3 years/2.6M per and the Red Wings fans are pretty upset.
