Do people on here not consider playoff performances? Same deal with Briere...folks seemingly ignore his great playoff runs. It's like everyone thinks regular season stats are all that matters.... I think the opposite way.

Eriksson has 9 points in 22 career playoff games.
Horton has 36 points in 43 games. No contest.

Eriksson had 12 goals this season, and wasn't very good.
Eriksson also played for a below average team. Horton, not so much.

Because all the players with value, are players the Habs can't really afford to trade.

When Teams negotiate with Habs, who do you think comes up? Gionta? Desharnais? Bourque? Hell no!

It's Subban, Galchenyuk, Pacioretty, Gallagher, Plekanec, Eller, Markov (even in Markov's case, I doubt they could get full value)

You want MB to make a move...expect one of the players in the 2nd group will be traded to accomplish that

I'll let you guys figure out which of those you would prefer moving

This team is mediocre and has very few assets...either be patient or make a bold move
MB should be on the phone trying to trade Plekanec and Markov

Tough to think that Iginla is finished as he had 11 points in 13 games in the regular season and 12 points in 15 games in the playoffs. Boston top 6 is still amongst the best top 6 in the conference. They still have Rask. Still have Bergeron. Still have Chara. And a "finished" Iginla will surely come back into life once again. Good moves by Chiarelli once again.

But the summer isn't over for us. Should we repeat it...again.

Jeez. Sorry for all your loneliness. I was just throwing the names left. I wasn't suggesting signing him. Pretty sure the business will be now on trades market. We're at 62.9M on cap.

On a minor note...Alexandre Bolduc would have look great for the Dogs.

I mean, if we can't move right now for the Habs...could we move for the Dogs? Or are we set over there as well? Which wouldn't make any sense....

I wouldnt mind dishing out Markov... That's why i didnt like the Kristo trade, becaue we could have packaged him up for a decent d man. At least someone better than Diaz...

I want to make the play-offs first. Briere's play-off points do nothing for me right now because IMO we're not a play-off team based on the moves we made and what is left to sign before training camp.

In order to make the play-offs we need to trade DD and Bouillon needs to go or be relegated to 7th D.
We need a PK/Face-off specialist.
Tinordi and Beaulieu have to be ready for the big leagues
Price has to go back to post-Halak form
and Therrien has to actually give Eller/Galchenyuk the PP time they deserve.

Really impressed by what the Senators did today. Bobby Ryan is exactly the type of winger needed in Montreal. Did Bergevin even try to get him? It's so rare to have a 26 years old power forward traded to another team.

Center?

They need a top line center to help some of the young wingers.

Yes, we should try to trade our two best veterans..

Only way I trade Markov is if we are dead out of the play-off race and Beaulieu is ready.

You don't want Tinordi playing in the NHL next season? I for one think he's ready to play an important role. I liked how he looked at season's end. Perhaps Beaulieu will challenge for a spot as well.

I think we have an above average defence core that includes a Norris Trophy winner.

It usually takes a year or two for a player to fully recover from a knee injury - I expect Markov to be solid next season...I don't think he's done by any means. Ran out of gas last year, and also lost his defence partner in Emelin. Diaz will also hopefully be fully recovered from his concussion as well. At the start of last season...he was playing very well. I also think Gorges can bounce back after a disappointing season....he's been solid for most of his Habs' career...I think last season was just a blip on the radar.

Subban Gorges
Markov Tinordi
Diaz Bouillon
Drewiskie Beaulieu

If Diaz is horrible at season's start and the team is struggling before Emelin returns...make a deal for a dman.

Yes - I am the optimistic sort.

Don't take my word for as I only watched him live in Calgary. A fire hydrant could get points with Crosby/Malkin.

You know how/why Sens were able to acquire Ryan?

Because a few years ago, they realize they were going nowhere and they traded fan favorite and Mr do-it-all Mike Fisher to the Preds and picked up an additional 1st round pick which turned out to be....you guessed it

Stefan Noesen, one of the pieces in this Bobby Ryan trade

Something to remember for all those who think the world will end if Habs trade Plekanec

He is. A 6'3'' not too physical though centerman. But really talented AHL'er. Perfect fit for our team in the AHL...I guess way too perfect...There might be other options though.

Watching him play though, he needed to be dragged along by Crosby/Malkin.

I don't think he's all that good a player in his own right anymore.

Of course, I have a lower opinion on Briere.

We are indeed becoming the laughing stock of the NHL. Hopefully it gets better in the long run but I don't see us going into the playoff next year unless Price pull a miracle.

We have 7.9M$ locked on goaltenders + 3.5M$x4 on a smurf center... Bergevin is clearly not a cap savy guy !

If history repeats itself, a fire hydrant will also get points whether he plays with Bergeron or Krejci.

Totally. But somehow, there is some kind of revival when you play in Boston for Julien. At least, that's just for one year. Worst that could happen is that it doesn't work and you move on. That contract is purely based on incentives....you have to think that it will work for them.
