Morrow is too washed up, didn't even notice him in the Pens series besides trying to chirp Marchand, pass. I would rather see a kid earn that spot who is hungry and still has his legs.

Unlikely but I sure would have liked to seen if his absence in a hospital bed could have provided any extra juice for 60 minutes and likewise how would Chicago take it. Certainly the Hawks would be favored but I'd still have liked to see it. Pittsburgh basically beat a super Wings team without Malkin and Crosby- who got hurt, would have been fun to atleast see that 7th game because it deserved 7

It's not like we are a young team like Edmonton who might desperately need a character guy for the locker room.
Shame about morrow one can only imagine a younger morrow on the This team, we could have a shutdown guy on every line

David Pagnotta ‏@TheFourthPeriod

Sat night FA fun: Contrary to some reports, Dan Cleary has not signed a deal with DET. It's getting there, but DET trying to shed salary 1st

David Pagnotta ‏@TheFourthPeriod

Ryan Whitney continues to weigh his options, but nothing imminent right now... Damien Brunner also going over options (wants around $3M per)

David Pagnotta ‏@TheFourthPeriod

And Jaromir Jagr's agent has said there are 3 teams in the mix. Not sure if that still includes MTL or not. $$ a factor here.

I enjoyed having Jagr around, was one of his biggest fans.

But he is the definition of a mercenary. He will play his heart out for you WHEN you pay him the most money he could get. But it will take the most money available on the market.

That is a terrible proposed trade, and we know something at HF about terrible proposed trades lol.

Only a Habs fan could think that nonsense up.

Grabovski's received a lot of interest, his agent told me. There could be a decision made later today.

#NJDevils have acquired LW Riley Boychuk from Buffalo in exchange for defenseman Henrik Tallinder. #NHL

Tyler Myers's career fell apart when Tallinder left. Smart move to re-acquire him.

I also love this approach. It gives Knight, Khokhlachev, Spooner, Fraser, Smith and others all a chance to prove that they are ready for the NHL.

Look how many of the core Bruins had this same opportunity and flourished; Krecji, Marchand, Lucic, Bergeron, Soderberg, and over half of the defense.

Develop them for years in the AHL then give them a shot at one to two spots / year on the big roster. ELC contracts are the lifeblood of the contender.

That's why I have no problem if Spooner plays another full season in the AHL and I'm glad the Bruins signed a cheap back-up so Svedberg can play another season.

They both can be better.

What about taking a chance on Peter Mueller for the third line RW? Right handed shot, good size and skill, fits in age wise with the core crop of forwards. His concussion issues will scare teams away and keep his price tag down, but if he's over them ( didn't have issues last year ) he's a potential diamond in the rough.

Didn't know if this was a good place to ask this but if Savard retires at the end of this season when his salary nose dives to 1.5 million does Boston get stuck with the cap hit because they can't put him on LTIR? Is that the reason he hasn't retired or does he still plan on a comeback? Since Boston really can't afford him would they just buy him out the day he is "healthy".

If he formally retires, yes BOS is stuck with the hit with no ability to LTIR it. Savard knows he's never playing again, and there's no reason for him to actually retire until that contract is up.

It's not a 35+ contract, so Boston would not be stuck with the cap hit.

Any interest in Colby Armstrong for the third line right wing spot? He's not great but by all accounts is a terrific team guy. Guarantee you could get him for very cheap on a short term deal and it would give an extra year for all the kids to develop.

I'd lean towards no personally, but I think it's something to consider.
