Ville Leino, should the Flyers sign him?

Leino is probably going to get bought out some time soon, and I think that he could be a good fit in Philadelphia. He would be pretty cheap too, so there wouldn't be much risk in signing him. So basically a win win situation...

Leino 100% is not getting bought out this summer. If he's awful this season, maybe next summer, but buffalo isn't in any kind of cap crunch and is gonna need someone to play wing in the top 6 if we move Vanek

I doubt they'd even be interested in him for the AHL.

Philly neither needs nor wants Leino.

So yes, Holmgren will sign him.

Why would Buffalo buy him out? He's practically market value now.

7 years, 3.3245774322/year?

Sounds about right.

Not only that, but he actually played well in limited showings last season. And if Buffalo moves Vanek and Miller, they'll be below the cap floor, so they need Leino's salary to help bring them up.

I was thinking NJ might sign him for like 5 AAV for 5 years, but who knows? He could play 1C? Couldn't be worse than Zajac.... Edit. He is healthy, makes no sense for the Devils.

what do you mean some time soon? Aren't compliance buyouts done for this year? Without looking at the exact numbers, I still strikes me as strange BUF would use an ordinary BO on him this summer. So, unless some time soon means next year: No, I guess.

Why would they use a compliance buyout on such a paltry cap-hit like Gerbe's? No point. They retain their two compliance buyouts until next summer, at which time, if he sucks this year and is healthy, they may give Leino the heave-ho. But since the compliance buyout period is over AND Leino is still rehabbing from surgery and can't be bought out, let's just close this one up.
