He's a pending UFA and wildly inconsistent. Not surprised we moved him, but a little surprised we didn't get a little bit more for him. Not saying he merits a 1st rounder, but a 2nd+decent prospect would have been my tag

At least Chevy did something. I like this move. PMB for $2 million I would've liked more, and we would've kept the pick. Not a huge deal, I'm happy with this move. Our RW looks so much better than it has for 2 years.

Edit:

Care for a small scouting report on Seto? He'll probably play opposite of Kane. If he's good at feeding the puck to him, he'll rack up assists. Does he have a good one-timer? We could use a right-handed trigger man. Almost all the forwards on our team only use wristers.

Hmm... only a 2nd? I thought Seto would get more. Guess his streakiness is lowing his value after this past season...

Poor value and unneeded trade. Fletcher's banking on unproven players to score this year, and if it backfires he better lose his job.

And if it works? He has you as a personal servant for a year?

The Wild are starting to look like the Twins. A few top heavy contracts, and a bunch of minor leaguers/ mediocrities. They will not be a good team this year.

I would almost take DR back what a waste we over pay and give our players away!
Get rid of this clown fast no play offs this year!

For what Seto brings, a 2nd rounder is not the worst return for 1 year left on his contract. Probably could've gotten a late 1st at best, but this isn't terrible. At first glance, it looks like Fletcher traded Seto for the best return he could get on short notice so that he could sign Cooke. I'm not exactly defending that move, just trying to analyze the reasoning.

Also, to all the folks who were disappointed that GMCF wasn't doing enough today... ARE YOU HAPPY NOW?!?!?!?

Actually if it works he'll probably get an extension. Its a make/break year for him and Yeo. Trusting 3-4 players who haven't combined to score 20 goals in this league to hold down top-9 spots is extremely risky for a cap ceiling team that believes its a contender.

So if trading for Nino was our "first round pick" and we call this trade "replacing a 2nd", can we now say we traded Clutterbuck + Setoguchi + Larsson + Hackett + 3rd for Pominville?

Interesting that people are now saying that the Wild won't make the play-offs.

If Seto had lived up to anything close to his billing or had a modicum of consistency the Wild wouldn't have been fighting for their play off lives last year. The guy had a solid 10 days all of last season and other than that he was nowhere to be found.

The thought that it is going to be soooooooo difiicult to replace his 20-25 goals is laughable at best. Cooke has already got 15-20 of them replaced, I think Nino can cover the rest.

And btw, you would be hard pressed to find someone who has been as big of a Seto supporter/defender as I have been over the past few years.

So he traded Seto for just a 2nd rounder, AND he signed Cooke at 2.5/yr?

**** you Fletcher. **** you very much.

I think the return on Seto was about right...Not worth a #1.

Good. Now our whole 2nd line is out. Didn't like that line at all, too streaky.

Yeah, Wild is kinda moving on and we have to trust our younger players at some point.

Seto was too streaky, and he's useless without Cullen. But expected more in return. Would have preferred using the extra money to find help on the blueline rather than bringing in Cooke.

Meh, IMO Seto isn't good enough to be 2nd liner, I don't think he's best suited (mentally) to play on the 3rd/4th line and he wasn't going to be back after this year with the younger players coming up.

I hate Cooke but think he is a better player for the bottom six and nearly brings the same production (if you take away the one 65pts season for Seto).

I wish we got more for Seto but it's likely going to be a very high second rounder, we save a little cap space and become more of a B**** to play against.

Got about what I expected to see for Setoguchi. He's just too in and out to be worth more. I think the second will be somewhat valuable as I believe Winnipeg is a bottom tier team in the West next season.

As for moving Setoguchi now, not at a fan in the least. I didn't expect him to be back on another contract with this team but in my opinion you still have to hold onto him through the beginning of the season to see how your lines and development of the kids are looking. By trading him, if one or multiple (gasp) take a step back in a sophomore season this team is in trouble. Setoguchi was insurance in that case.

The second round pick would still be there to be had, no matter the output really, during the season IMO. Even if it wouldn't have been as valuable as I think this one will be.
