Seems like he fled the scene when he saw the East arming themselves for war.

So glad he's no longer in the East, let alone the Atlantic. Later, *******!

Any other player and people would say it was just unlucky..

I don't like him but how can anyone argue against a major pest that can score 35 points consistently and be a major pain physically, and all for just 2.5$ mil?

LOL, you Wild fans are priceless.

"Forced to hate this team now, how can I cheer for a team that employs Cooke, etc" .. Seriously? The guy's a hell of a player who hasn't done anything worthy of even a fine in the last 2 years..

You should just listen to your GM and relax and focus on the good he'll do for this team now.

I'll need to take a bath after every Wild game now. Just feel dirty and not in a good way. Thanks, Fletch.

That said, I'm not jumping ship or booing the guy. He's wearing Wild colors now. Any Wild fan who turns their back on the team because of this probably wasn't a true fan to begin with. Grin and bear it. Cheer for the logo on the front of the jersey....not the name on the back. Players come and go.

We had some extra cash. Why not use it on the blueline? This will either be epic or a disaster. Grab the popcorn and watch the entertainment.

I didn't see a single Wild fan do anything close to this. Lot of fans of other teams, but no actual Wild fans. Where did you come up with this?

A guy that everyone hates unless he is playing for your team. The Wild never have to play against him now

I'm fine with the signing. We needed a physical guy after the Clutterbuck trade.

Good signing for the Wild. Not gonna like the fact that the Jets have to face him even more each year. Oh well, guess that's what Kane's for.

I'd gladly take Cooke on the Devils any day.

You'll enjoy him in Minny.

I'm jealous of the Wild with this signing. Cooke would've been perfect in Edmonton.

Doubt he ever tries tangling with Kane again.

Min fans - you will love this pick up. Great cap hit for a guy who is a stellar PKer and 3rd liner. Great signing. Trust me... he's not the old Cooke.

Well done.

I think it's telling when some Atlantic division fans saying it's a good signing. They know Cooke has turned a page and his PK ability alone is solid. For what people were getting, this is a crazy good solid deal. Nothing cheap, but great value for the cost.

But some people like to watch the world burn and cannot get the idea of Cooke being a productive player.

Now, the trade for Nino Niederreiter makes less sense from Minny's end (unless Nino will be competing with Granlund now to replace Setoguchi's production...Cal Clutterbuck is a lot younger than Cooke).

I compare Matt Cooke a lot to Chris Neil---you love him if he's on your team...hate him elsewhere.

SMART Minnesota will love Matt Cooke, love his PK abilities, and love that he can score goals and has more talent than people give him credit for. Will miss him on the Pens for sure.

Does anyone have a comprehensive list of all the soft players that have lost games as a direct result of old school cooke's clean hockey plays?

My friend Sheldon, who I grew up with here in Calgary, has always been a Minnesota fan, Boogaard being his favorite player in franchise history, and the guy he has the jersey of. But he's pissed.

He insists Cooke doing the achilles tendon thing was 100% on purpose, and because of the Wild signing him, he is no longer a fan of the team, and will not support them while Cooke wears the sweater, and possibly beyond that, that's how pissed off he is lol

Guess its time for Sheldon to start rooting for his hometown team.

Ha, Flames are his least favorite team in the NHL, and Iginla his second least favorite player after Cooke lol. He's jumping onto the columbus bandwagon.

Yikes. A Calgary, Minnesota AND Columbus fan? Your friend sounds like a self-loather. Must hate himself.

This is exactly like when the Wild had Matt Johnson. Couldn't cheer for him either... it's times like this that you focus away from the player and cheer for the team.
