15 goals in 2009. Funny that you didnt mention his goal totals from 11-12?

look i know i'm in the minority here but i still don't like the guy, I don't see "reformed" as much as I see guy trying to find another way to do this old shenanigans.

I don't care for how good of a hockey player he is, just him being on this team is ********.

Still tho, not a damn ****ing thing i can do about it so what ever, it'll be curious to see if this 3rd liner strikes out like every other 3rd liner GMCF overpaid for in FA.

Its safe to assume that his production will drop by 10-20% at lest.

Even if he didn't play with Crosby/Malkin, their impact was there. We don't have that, so cooke won't have it as easy.

If he goes over 11g on 82 games i'll be surprised.

Also he had Jordan in that year as well, this year he was on pace for like 14

Still don't agree.... Brodziak has worked out just fine for the most part (down season last year though), Mitchell has been fine as a 3rd/4th liner as well.

eh yeah, Brodziak is good, Mitchell isn't bad

Rupp is ok given we fixed it with a mistake

but Nystrom, Powe, Kobasew were big wifs.

Still a pretty shaky record.

Some would say Nystrom was a great pick, just didn't work out here.

do you / anyone expect him to get it right each and every time with 3rd and 4th line guys or anyone roster player for that matter?

Ask for the moon why don'y you

I can't hate ya for that...

I personally don't care as long as he helps us win games and he will. So I am happy

not going to start a thread on this but Jared Cowen is an RFA (now). I would love to see Fletcher be a super #ick and make an offer for him. Only bad part is that we don't have enough cash/ cap to make an offer Ottawa wouldn't match and I am guessing Fletcher doesn't want to lose his 1st round pick again... food for thought

edit, sounds like he was qualified and working out a long term deal now... so never mind

I think Minnesota could be a good change of lifestyle and scenery and overall attitude for him.

That part I can agree with... but as a Wild fan I've gone through this before with Matt Johnson. I learned you can "tolerate" having a worthless puke on the roster if the team benefits from what the worthless puke brings. Cheer for the team not for the player.

I will tolerate this puke much better actually as Johnson was a pure goon... sure the goon wasn't completely worthless yet in the league at that point, but they were starting to head that way. The new puke on the team actually knows how to play hockey and can do some good for the squad. He's a better all around player than Clutterbuck... even though he's not a better all around person.

Matt Cooke has made 13 million dollars in his career and just signed for another 7.5. Hes been fined more than he gave to charity.

I don't blame you.

I doubt he is really reformed. Karlsson (on the Sens) doesn't think cooke has changed his ways either.

Your team will improve once you loose that ass. At least you won't have to worry about him going after your teams heads and knees. Watch out Sid.

What I like the most about this we actually have a third-line not just a line of castaway 2nd liners playing with a 3rd line center.

link? how is his charity work fraudulent?

you Boston fans are hilarious. it'd be far more appropriate and productive if you directed your anger towards the institutions that allowed Savard to lie to his doctors and play while still experiencing post-concussion symptoms.

The more I look at this the more I like it (sadly). He is a massive upgrade from Clutterbuck and we still got Niño to replace Seto anyways. Heater put this team in a massive bind though.

I'm not sure about upgrade...similar player maybe more balanced offensively but remember he had Staal and Kennedy as linemates

Who did he play with this year? And we will see. But he can score and can play defense not out of position nearly as much as Cal. I'm still upset, but I want to be open minded about him here. If he is trouble, I don't for one second think that Fletcher ditches him.

Not playwise, but he can give away as much money to charity as he likes. You're just trying to start a fight. Just leave

What baffles me is why the Islanders didn't just sign Cooke instead of giving up Nino for Cal. I'm not complaining, mind you, but it seems pretty dumb on their part.

Agree.

Cooke is an upgrade over Clutterbuck, probably will cost less or the same and we gained Nino for a 3rd. What is not to like? Get over the fact that its Matt Cooke. sounding like a bunch of 13 year old girls

i think this is part of it. i also think they are all-in on creating an identity...they want to be the hardest-hitting team while they're growing better offensively.
