When is nothing actually something? The answer is when you're rebuilding for three to five years in the future and you don't sign players that won't get you to that goal. They didn't jeopardize future cap space and chase anyone from what was generally a weak group of free agents. In two years it might be worth going after a big name free agent or two to compliment the young talent we are hoping develop into legitimate NHL players. Two years from now potential free agents include Toews, Kane, Krejci, and Bobby Ryan. Edmonton may have to trade one of its young skilled players because they won't be able to afford resigning all of them and build a contending team deep enough. You never really know what's in store for the future but for now there's a light at the end of the tunnel of our future and so far in free agency 2013 nothing has been done to jeopardize that.
