I'd definitely still like Bouwmeester on this team. He's not really an offensive producer, nor is he going to be an impassioned leader, but he is a minute eating shut down defender that can handle the majority of the leagues best players. He, paired with EJ, would be a pretty good fit for this team IMO.

You might want to check his numbers this year, under Heartly and with the Blues. He's started to produce closer to what got him his current contract. I think the new systems have been more conducive to his talents. Especially under Heartly.

He absolutely can be an offensive force still. I think we missed out on that one personally.

Yeah, especially in Roy's uptempo style I think Jaybo would flourish. Hopefully Pietro will demand so much that they'll have to send him out for cheap. Elliott + for Jaybo!

They will move 1 or 2 of Polak, Perron or even Stewart before JayBo.

What does your line-up look like right now, if you had to guess?

O'Reilly-Duchene-Parenteau
Landeskog-Stastny-Tanguay
McGinn-MacKinnon-Downie
McLeod-Mitchell-Bordeleau

Wilson-Johnson
Hejda-Barrie
Hunwick-Benoit
Sarich

Varly

The only thing I'm unsure about is who should play on the bottom pairing.

Ahh I have completely stopped making lineups for our defense, I can barely take it lol.

Hey, after Mack's signing we have a little over 10M left. Just enough to offer-sheet Pietrangelo!

I know a lot of people disagree with this, but I really hope they move to a place where they start pairing up their young defensmen as soon as possible with the big club. Yeah, I know there's a downside to rushing guys, but on the flipside, if they spend too much time treading water in the minors, they can forget how to really swim. If you really believe in our prospects, it's best to forego the short term fix.

It says our cap payroll is $58,833,333. Salary cap is $64,300,000.

Where do they get the cap space $10,289,167 number from?

5.5M of it is in bonuses, we technically have 10.2M.

Honestly, yeah we probably wont realistically use that. Because if Mackinnon and Landeskog hit their bonuses the remaining amount over the cap transfers to next year.

Cause of the KGB-style Avalanche has used untill now, we might see Dater pick up a few more sources around the Avs now.

And, other teams seems to go after FA's, Avs aren't right now.

Hope during this season we lock down Duchene and Landeskog longterm 9+ years hopefully. Then in 3 years the same for Mackinnon. Want those 3 guys to be career-long Avs.

Patrick Roy came out and said it was

Quote:
O'Reilly - Duchene - Parenteau
Landeskog - Stastny - Tanguay
McGinn - MacKinnon - Downie
McLeod - Mitchell - Bordeleau

Wilson - Johnson
Hejda - Barrie
Elliott/Hunwick - Sarich

Varlamov
Giguere

before the Andre Benoit signing. He figures in on the third pairing.

Not too sure how long these combos will last. Lots of unknowns.

I love this misinformation that's continuing to be spread from the Denver Post:

Quote:
MacKinnon's cap hit will be $3.775 million, the maximum a player can earn in his first contract. His signing gives the Avs 23 players signed for this coming season, also the NHL maximum.
What is it going to take for the Denver Post to realize that they can sign more players, but they can only enter the Regular Season with a maximum of 23 guys on the roster?

That is a really good group of players. We will see how many of them actually make it to unrestricted free agency, though.

That list is gonna shrink like crazy before July 1st next year. Happens every year, especially under the new CBA with defenseman.

Could, could not.

Bouwmeester: Could see him leave St. Louis
Phaneuf: I think he's going to stay
Pitkanen: Unknown to be honest, do not know the situation between him and the Canes.
Markov(Aging): He will stay
Orpik: I think he wants to stay, but Penguins will trade him
Hjalmarsson: Could see him leaving Chicago for more money
Seidenberg: I think he's going to leave, I personally didn't like his performance in the playoffs
Phillips(Aging): Once Cowen gets experience Phillips is gone
Klesla: I think he's going to leave
Green: Going to stay

I thought it was pretty common knowledge Adrian Dater is just sticking around with the Denver Post long enough to take over as the Broncos writer when the other guy retires.

He doesn't care about hockey. He regurgitates information he gets from other people and he sensationalizes basic headlines to make them apocalyptic.

He's terrible. I like how he said "Avs are done for the day" then 20 minutes later they sign someone on Free Agent Frenzy day. He also said Jack Johnson to Colorado for Paul Stastny was a done deal in 2011.

He's terrible.

The thing I hate most about dater is his post game interviews.

*incoherent mumbling* Umm... So what did you.. uhh.. think when uhh you scored? *more mumbling*

I believe 'Canes fans think Pitkanen is gone.
