Top storys fun..... hitch-hiking in the hopes of a tryout. Reminds me a bit of the stories about Bobby Hull having to do the same, thumb failing walking it all the way into town in order to play, a distance of many miles. Seems his Old Man was quite the piece of work. If he didnt like the way Bobby had played, or perhaps just piqued about whatever, would refuse to drive him, allow anyone in the family to do so off to his game. Too proud then to tell anyone upon arrival in order to play, then walking home, not getting in until well past midnight. Im sure it got pretty damn cold & lonely out there crossing fields, but when your a kid with ambition, talent, anythings possible, you dont think twice about it.
