Ya know, 48 hours ago everything was humming along as usual. Then BAM everything happens at once. This has been a crazy off season.

I am in the "blessing in disguise" camp. The only potential wrench is that if we manage to sign him at about 3 I doubt BM has the wiggle room to go out and get another D.

Are we going to start calling our shots, here?

2 years, ~$2mil. Walsh will push for a short term contract, so Cowen can hit his 3rd contract at a prime time in his career.

So because he signed between Jan 25th and Feb 28th, a 35 day window, his contract slid for 2009-10 but not 2010-11, and he is now RFA.
no, any time in 2010 cowen was considered '19'. Even before his 19th birthday.

to slide twice, he had to sign some time in 2009.
or, if he had signed after the 2009-10 season (ie june 2010), the contract could have slid once from 2010-11 to 2011-12.

if you're going to claim that someone put in an offersheet on cowen, you better source it.

Completely agree - he has zero leverage in negotiations (sans offer sheet), coming off such a serious injury and playing only 7 games.

Subban signed for 2 875 000 for 2years as a RFA..Bogo also was signed at 2 500 000 for 2 years.I assume Cowen will be signed for less because of his injuries. Cowen cant negotiate.

Some guy came in and said that columbus put in an offer sheet. By the time i replied, i noticed he changed the team to dallas. So it might actually not be true that teams put in offer sheets.

If we lose cowen, we will be in trouble in our defense department. We already lost gonchar. We just cannot lose cowen.

Would you rather lose Cowen? Or the team?

Cowen spent a lot more minutes on the ice near the end of the season than Wiercioch did.

And he looked terrible doing it. Not saying Wiercioch is anywhere near Cowen's level, but Cowen was bad against NYR and bad against Pittsburgh.

Or match it-and what would that do to the Sens internal budget?

For all those fretting, D Jared Cowen received a qualifying offer. He wasn't on my June 26 list because I wasn't aware of his status. #Sens

The whole team was bad against the pens. Don't just pin it all on cowen. He did come off what i think was suppose to be a season ending injury you know. He was not playing at his full potential.

I'll give him a break from a physical standpoint, but you shouldn't completely forget how to handle the puck.

So an oilers fan told me he would be willing to spend 5m+ to obtain cowen. That is just massive over payment for a guy who really just played one full season. If some team off sheets him that much, they can have him. I will literally laugh out loud at the team that is willing to spend that much on cowen.

You mean he looked like he had only played a little over a half dozen games after recovering from an injury?
