All depends on what the + from our side has to be. One thing's for sure is that I wouldn't overpay for Stewart and Berglund, but if a deal came along that was even and helped out both teams, I'd consider making the move. Also, if we were to do that, it would almost but guarantee a trade with someone currently in our top 9 to make room, my guess would be Gio or DD.

I think Eller has proved that he can play centre, Id rather have him in the middle and Briere on the wing, unless DD was traded, then I'd have them both at centre.

Pacioretty-Desharnais-Stewart
Galchenyuk-Eller-Briere
Bourque-Berglund-Gallagher

OR

Pacioretty-Berglund-Stewart
Galchenyuk-Briere-Gallagher
Bourque-Eller-Gionta

Losing Plekanec really hurts us at C though.

Take a flyer on Ryan Whitney. He's broken, but if he can somehow play 18 minutes/game, it would be a good depth.
I doubt Brunner signs a 1 year deal unless the market is really crappy. I think he'll be a good 2nd line NHLer. 25-25-50

Good for him. He seemed capable in his stint with the Habs.

Wow, didn't know about Allen. I hope we're talking to them!

I like both of those lineups better than now for sure.

$9.8m and AHL players don't count against the cap.

I hope that we are talking to them too. I heard that Stewart wants a contract north of 4-4.5m, and Pietro probably won't sign for anything less then 6m unless he is taking a HUGE hometown discount to stay in St. Louis. I'm not sure how much Allen would want, but I figure it will probably be at least 2m +

Allen played 15 games for the Blues last year and will probably stick with the team this year but I may be wrong

and even 9.8M isn't enough to sign both Pietro and Stewart

Good for him. Man, I'm jealous of Columbus. They drafted Rychel, Wennberg, and Dano, and now they got Horton and St. Denis. Kekäläinen is one fine GM.

Losing Plekanec really hurts us at C though.
It hurt us but it's less nightmarish now that have Briere. Berglund can also play wing, wich he's best suited for.

Bourque - Brière - Stewart
Patch - DD - Gallagher
Galchenyuk - Eller - Berglund

There is no way we trade DD if we already traded Plek though, i'd rather find a way to trade Gio. Without Gio and Plek it's a quite a change of regime and we lost a lot of leadership. It's a toss, i can live with both options, it's a kind of rebuild if we trade away Plek though, we take a gamble on the centerline, while having two wingers - Galchenyuk and Berglund - who can step in in case of injury. We're trading away a better player who's getting old for two young players who have a lot to prove.

And if Jake Allen does stick, he'll be on around $1m and Halák will be gone. Which means over $12.5m to sign Pietrangelo and Stewart, which is more than enough.

The only real player that there is a chance of being "sold low" is Jaro.

They could do some minor trades to fit them under the cap though.

I thought we qualified him? Oh well, he was a good depth player but wasnt good to crack top 6. He's a very good positional player, a larger but less physical boullion.

Good luck to what it looks like a good kid. Could be one day a serviceable non-flashy #6 in the league. But he has regressed this year. Whether it's himself, the coaching or a combination of both, clearly he had to go and it was time for him to get another look for another organization.

I hate Jarmo.

I still think he's going to be a great bottom pairing defenseman ala Chris Tanev (without Tanev's potential).

I think it had a lot to do with even when he played well - it was clear he wasn't in the plans. After filling in so well last year (he filled in great, IMO), the Habs went out and signed 100 defenseman. Hell, he was only invited back to camp for the scrimmage. He knew his time was up and it seemed like he just went through the motions.

Good Luck! Always liked the kid when he was called up and saw some potential. Hope it works out for him in Columbus.

LOL going to Lumbus where they have so many young defencemen vying for an NHL job. Not a smart destination to go to.

Best of luck to him, deserves a chance at the NHL level which was clearly not available here.
