(Also can get that mandatory military service out the way hopefully...right?)
Even if he's in Rochester, his contract will still slide a year.

Yes. I forgot this. 18 year old who play in the AHL have their contract slide if they play less than 9 NHL games. Girgensons contract slid last year.

Devine's original statement probably hasn't changed. They want Risto in Rochester if he signs.

Risto is no longer under contract in Finland. I'm fairly confident he will be in Rochester.

With the softness our D may have to start next year, be amazing if Ryan Miller stays healthy long enough to make it to the trade deadline.

Everything from Regier, Devine and Risto himself say otherwise.

Maybe he never actually signed that extension? Maybe they've released him?

Who knows, but right now, everyone is saying that Risto is under no contractual obligation in Finland.

He's under contract but since the FIHA has a transfer agreement with the NHL, he can get out of it.

I wouldn't expect the FIHA to let him go to the AHL quietly though.

I know there's that article about him signing an extension but it could have an out clause that allows him to leave for NA. Could be for within SM-Liiga only.

I can see this happening for sure....Then Miller walks after the season, and we get nothing !

In order to "help" Myers on the ice, Hank would need to be on it too, seeing as though he missed half of Jerseys games the last 2 years, thats not a given, so were back at the goat in the stall for me again. Stupid move.

Then why do Devine and co. keep saying he can play in Rochester next season for that reason? Color me confused.

Put him back with Myers. Maybe Tyler can rediscover his game.

What they want to happen could be different from what's likely to happen.

To put it in perspective, the only European player that played in a high quality league in his draft year to make the jump to the AHL the next year in recent memory is Hampus Lindholm, who only went to the AHL because of the lockout.
The rest of them are either banned from being sent to the AHL by their federations or explicitly ask not to be.

They acquired an asset for free, pretty much. How is this a bad thing?

This doesn't make sense to me. I didn't think Buffalo was even close to 50 contracts signed.

By my count, we're at 45 contracts COUNTING the RFAs that have yet to sign.

So why did NJ have to take a contract back?

Not too bad of a move. Fits rebuild need and MIGHT make Myers happy and working.

Call me a pessimist, but with Tallinder in the mix, hoping he will help turn Myers into what he once was ... I'll believe it when i see it
