Hockey on the Florida Gulf Coast

There is a possibility I may have to relocate to the FL gulf coast (Ft Meyers area). Was wondering if anyone on these boards has any insight in to the pickup/men's league scene down there..is there even one?

Right now I play pickup 1-2 nights per week, men's league 1 night per week, and do sticktimes 1-2 times per week, schedule permitting. I just started getting back in to the game again and the thought of walking away for a second time has me un-plussed to say the least.

I'm pretty sure Germain Arena has the main arena with a second rink for recreational purposes. My friend played club hockey at FGCU and that's where they hosted their games.

Looks like a nice facility. I guess their house league is the way to go. Thanks for the info.

I believe hockey is big right now in Fort Myers. The school in the city, FGCU, has been top in the nation this past year or 2.

^^^ Great Point. I know the Panthers get a lot of hate and TB's been meh in recent seasons (besides conf finals in '10) but Florida is a pretty underrated hockey state. There's is some good hockey down there, especially on the roller hockey side too. It will take time but someone show worthy is bound to get a crack at it.

I've been to a bunch of rinks around Florida during my youth travel days. A lot of nice rinks, I'd say the one in Coral Springs where the Panthers practice at is the nicest.

I've played at Ft. Myers Skatium, I know they have a few adult leagues that have been going on whenever I've been there for tournaments
