Just waters down our league though.

Since Kovalchuk entered the league, only 3 other players have put up more points in the same span.

Best player I've ever seen live. A true talent, 6'3" 230lbs can skate, shoot, hit...his ability on the ice is limitless and I'd take him over Ovechkin any day of the week.

Yeah, Ovechkin just doesn't have that package of size, speed, the ability to shoot, and the tenacity to hit like Kovalchuk does...

Sarcasm aside, I'd still take Kovalchuk over Ovechkin.

That's cool. I don't think it's clearcut or anything, just personal preference.

^^^^^^^

THis is one of the reasons (I imagine there has to be similar clips of Kovy doing similar).

I just like that Kovalchuk also brings this to the table:

Brendan Smith signs for 2 years 2.525 total. Don't see how Tanev gets more than this

I see Tanev signing for a similar 2 year deal maybe slight higher, 1.7 million on a 3 year deal.

Why?

He has proven less.

Smith out produced him, Muzzin plays tougher minutes and out produced him, these guys are all the same age.

Alzner played some of the toughest minutes in the league for 2 years and didn't get more than $1.3 in the exact same cap (2 years ago).

Boston has fired their director of amateur scouting. Is their pipeline really that bad?

I think Tanev will get two or two and a half million this contract. Two years for five million, maybe. I doubt Gillis plays hardball with him. How can he? IOf Gillis lets Tanev walk over money, he will look like an idiot. That would be the best player on the team and the best prospect gone in the same offseason, a GIANT regression!

Canucks actually have a chance to become a young team as early as next year. Once the Sedins have gone and Luongo realizes he's a backup and quits, there won't be any greybeards left. If they actually do play a couple of rookies this season, they will be ready for the major facelift, next year!

Tanev can't "walk". He could go play in Russia. Other than that his options are limited. Tanev is not the kind of prospect that can hold Gillis' feet to the fire either. He won't get anywhere near 2.5m... probably half that.

LOL.

2.5million, good stuff junior.

Best prospect on the team? Chris Tanev has all of ONE, yes 1, more 20 min TOI game more than Frank Corrado does, what makes that interesting is Chris Tanev has played 110 games, Corrado has played 7.

Josh Bailey get's 3.3 per on a five year contract.

Very much like the Grabner deal imo. Too much money at first but if the gamble pays off the deal could look very good in 3-4 years.

Carcillo in, Clifford out would be a net loss for LA IMHO.

Sutter hockey-values are destroying the LA Kings! Guy loves his 'tough guys' like Regier and Carcillo who are just bad hockey players, and if he's pursuing them while letting guys like Penner and maybe even Mitchell or Clifford walk... I love it!

Lombardi should stop deferring to his coach and start following his gutt again.

edit: I guess they did add Frattin.

Should be fun. Hope he gets a standing O. Probably won't though.
